Re: Availability of VPipes

Check out listings #40, #45, #47, and #63 on Uilleann Obsession. They are a few years old, but still haven't moved to the "sold" section -- and I've had very good luck in the past responding to very old classified ads on that site!

Re: Availability of VPipes

Oxtershuffler, you might want to check out the Uilleann Obsession classifieds: http://www.uilleannobsession.com/classifieds.html

There are a handful of old "for sale" listings for vPipes -- the most recent is from 2016, but probably still worth a shot!

Re: Ennis recording of The Rambling Pitchfork

Thanks for the link, NicoMoreno! I didn't know that about the tune's history. (And I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know that website existed.) I've been playing the tune all week with some of Felix Doran's variations: https://archive.org/details/FelixDoranDoransFancyTheRamblingPitchfork Then there's...

Ennis recording of The Rambling Pitchfork

I recently stumbled across this recording of Ennis playing The Rambling Pitchfork: http://pipers.ie/source/media/?searchTerm=Ennis&pageIndex=0&pageSize=48&sPage=1&mediaId=30529 It's a pretty interesting recording. The first couple times through the tune it almost sounds like he's doi...

Re: Where has the uilleannforum gone?

It's a bit of a pain, but for now you can still try to browse by using this google search: " topic of interest site:uilleannforum.com " Then instead of clicking the links in the search results, click the down-arrow and request the cached page. The formatting is all screwy, but the content ...

Re: Tone - attacking the note

Any suggestions for articles which discuss accents on/accentuating notes for the UP chanter? Pat Mitchell 'Rhythm and style' articles in the SRS journal? This must be the one you're referring to? http://www.seanreidsociety.org/SRSJ1/Rhythm%20and%20structure%20in%20Irish%20traditional%20dance%20musi...

Re: Perfect imperfect peformances

I've always liked Ennis's blunder in his recording of The Lark's March. Even though he completely loses the notes and stalls, he stays locked in to the tempo and rhythm of the tune. There's a lot to be learned from that.

WTB: Full or 3/4 flat set

I’m looking to purchase a high-quality used flat set (preferably a full set). Right now I’m leaning towards something in C, but I’d be open to different pitches depending on the set. The dream would be a Kennedy set, but I’m also open to other makers in the same classic narrow-bore vein. If you or s...

Re: Lives of the pipers- piper biography additions

Nick, these are fantastic!

Question -- is the Taylor set pictured on the Edward O'Donnell page the same you reference in your introduction? If so, would love to see more pictures of it :)

EDIT: Never mind, a little Googling did the trick! http://www.whitmerpipes.com/o'donnell_photos_set.html
