Re: 6 keys...are they really all necessary in ITM?

Thanks to all for your exahustive replies! Yes Sergio, I'm the "Mara from Italy" that Shannon sometimes welcomes  I felt in love with the Heatons one year and a half ago, taken 5 lessons with her and from then, I've never left them ❤ But that's another story. Never considered the ba...

6 keys...are they really all necessary in ITM?

Hello all, back again to the keys... I'm playing a Solen Leseouf D keyless flute from beginning this year and I'm satisfied. Playing only ITM on it, the only key which I miss is the C natural. Thinking in prospective to buy a keyed flute sooner or later, I'm wondering why I should have a flute with ...

Re: C natural on a keyless Solen Leseouf flute

Thanks to all the for the feedbacks and advice! I've asked to Solen and she referred that F nat and G sharp keys are more useful, whereas C nat can easily played with fingers, making a smokey, nice sound. And that she receives many orders for 3 keyed flutes (F and C nat plus G sharp). It's up to me....

C natural on a keyless Solen Leseouf flute

Hi folks! I'm waiting for my Solen Leseouf flute for November and I was wondering if asking to Solen to add the C natural key. I heard that she doesn't accept to add less keys than 8 keyes so I'm also not sure that she would accept to add only the C nat key. Anyone with a keyless Solen Leseouf flute...

Hi kkrell! Yes thanks. Before posting this topic I had checked and found the discussions you attached here but haven't seen anyone who is currently playing this flute. And this is what I was looking for 8)

Tim Adams flutes

Hello folks! Since my fingers are long but tight, I was thinking to try a Tim Adams flute. I've seen on his website that the flute is lightweight and thought for little fingers. The sound seems to be really clear. And he's really available with many tips. Anyone has one? Which is the average cost? T...

I'm curious :P How much did you pay it? It's definitely too early for me thinking to buy one, but dreaming is free

Daily practice..examples please

Hello folks! I'm an adult beginner. Even if I bought my flute in Jan 2019, I've been seriously practicing from the COVID lockdown only, i.e. approx. 2 months. I'm trying to practice every day, from 20 min til 1 hour/1 hour and a half if possible. Since the improvement is obviously slow, sometimes I ...

Re: For the mopane flautists

Thanks to all for the responses! Decided: I've ordered a Solen Leseouf keyless flute in mopane. Solen has confirmed me to have never heard cases of allergy to mopane among her customers. I'll risk... No sense to add the silver lip plate already now. I've caught an old reply of Terry McGee to one of ...

Re: Keyed or keyless?

THANKS to all for the comments and advises! I've been playing from approximately 6 months and, also thanks to your clarifications, my initial idea of buying a good keyless is confirmed. I've just ordered a Solen Leseouf keyless flute in Mopane. Can't wait! In the meantime (7 months of waiting list) ...

Re: Keyed or keyless?

Thanks to all! Well, to answer to the last question, I am a real beginner...I would say 6 months effective.
Thanks to your comments, now I've really understood the "role" of the keys :)

Keyed or keyless?

If all say that the 90% of the Irish tunes are playable on keyless flutes, why all want a keyed flute? I'm asking because I'm very close to ordering a Solen Leseouf and I'm thinking to a keyless flute. But every flutist I see online has a keyed one. But, again, Terry McGee and Martin Doyle (and othe...

Re: For the mopane flautists

Thanks for all the responses! I live in Milan, Italy: with its humid climate I think I should not have problems :-? No, to be honest I have still not discussed with Solen about the number of the keys. Thanks so much for having informed me in advance. At this point, I think that the keyless flute wil...

For the mopane flautists

would you recommend this wood instead of the african blackwood? I'm thinking to order a 4-keyed Solen Leseouf flute in mopane because last year I had to apply a silver lip plate on my McNeela African Blackwood flute due to a rash under the lower lip. As you probably know there's a long waiting list ...
