Re: Who here plays an NAF

You may want to check out the forums at worldflutes.net

That site is more focused on NAF.

By the way, I played NAF and Basketmaker rimblowns (Ancestral Puebloan flutes) prior to “Irish” flutes.

Re: A beginner flute for short fingers?

The three best options that I can think of: 1. Dave Copley Delrin custom made for you for closer and offset finger placement. (this can maybe be done for you by other makers of Delrin flutes too; I'm just not aware of who else does this. Walt Sweet's "Shannon" has offset holes, but I think...

Re: FS: Burns Large Hole Standard Flute-Blackwood-Ergo-No Sl

This excellent flute is still available and still untouched, unplayed, and in its case (since May 23).

Open to reasonable offers. Get one of Casey’s standard flutes for less than the cost of one of his Folk Flutes.

FS: Burns Large Hole Standard Flute-Blackwood-Ergo-No Slide

Here's a link to my listing on the Exchange for a nice standard model flute made by Casey Burns. It is his large hole ergonomic model in blackwood. It does not feature the tuning slide or rings, but since this is his standard model (not his Folk Flute) it is upgradable if you should find that you ne...

Re: FS: Burns Large Hole Standard Flute-Blackwood-Ergo-No Sl

I forgot to mention in my original post that the flute has been sanitized and re-oiled, and has not been touched or played since May 23. All three parts of the flute are snugly placed in the padded cloth case. Also forgot to mention (even though its in the title and can be seen in the photos), this ...

Re: How we bore...

Two great videos. The second got me thinking back to engineering school (many years ago) and guys trying to figure things out with the old right hand rule.

Re: Copley and Burns Blackwood Flutes: Grass is always green

They can be removed surgically, but I try to avoid surgery unless absolutely necessary. The largest cyst shrank on its own, so now there's just few little guys hanging around. Its crazy, the only time they bother me is playing the flute. I have to laugh a little bit here. When I bought my first firs...

Re: How we bore...

Thanks for sharing this Casey! I'm always amazed how equipment like this can stay true in three planes.

Before I retired I used to work with lots of different types of manufacturing industries and loved to see how different things were made.

Re: Copley and Burns Blackwood Flutes: Grass is always green

Thanks Kevin. I have those dimensions too, from Casey’s site and my own measurements (and my measurements are all pretty close to what’s listed). I would be interested in seeing the two side by side, assuming that the Burns is ergonomic standard. (I think we have the same model (boxwood ergonomic st...

Re: Copley and Burns Blackwood Flutes: Grass is always green

Thanks guys. Like you've both suggested, I have written to Dave and Marlene on the dimensional aspects. I was inquiring about some of those points to see what you may have. What I'm most interested in are the differences (or likeness) of Casey's standard hole configuration versus Dave's hole configu...

Copley and Burns Blackwood Flutes: Grass is always greener..

I'm currently playing a Burns boxwood Folk Flute with ergonomic standard holes. I've also had/played a couple of Casey's blackwood flutes (one small hand version and one large hole) so I'm quite familiar with Casey's flutes. I sold the small hand a while back and will probably be selling the large h...
