Eagle two piece whistle

Hi All, it's been a long time since I last posted here on the forum. I recently clicked on a whistle that I saw on Ebay because it looked interesting and the bid price had not risen very high at all. It's a two piece whistle that looks very similar to the Clare two piece. It may even be identical bu...

Re: Electronic whistle?

It's probably not what you have in mind but I have seen the Fagerstrom technopipes over on YouTube. This is not an electronic whistle of course but it would give you a way to play some tunes without disturbing anyone. As far as I know they are battery operated, you just plug in a pair of headphones ...

Re: Tony Dixon Alto G (brass).

Yes they are all high D whistles, there are a couple more I forgot, a Clarke Original D and a very nice handmade D whistle that a friend made for me. I do have a Low D, that one is a Shearwater. I went for that because the third and sixth holes are off-set a little bit to make it less of a stretch t...

Re: Tony Dixon Alto G (brass).

Hi Fatmac, You are now on a very slippery slope. Over on YouTube in the comments section we quite often refer to a common condition among whistle players called W.A.S (Whistle Acquisition Syndrome) Okay it's a tongue in cheek subject, but I believe there's truth in it having contracted this conditio...

Re: Recording on an Android phone over a backing track

When I record tunes for YouTube I have a guitar backing track recorded on an MP3 player then play it back with a small X-Mini speaker and play the whistle along with that and record the whole thing on my PC. It's a very basic method but it works for me. I find the X-Mini to have a really "Brigh...

Re: Disinfecting whistles

I've never tried it myself but I did buy a second hand whistle from ebay where the seller told me he had cleaned it using Miltons Fluid. That's the stuff that is used on babies bottles ect. That would certainly be safe to put in your mouth afterwards and the whistle was fine when I got it.

Re: Dixon keyless flute (& piccolo)

Hi fatmac, I really don't know anything at all about the flute, but when I play the low D whistle I need to use "The Piper's Grip" to cover the holes, which basically means using the middle of your fingers instead of the fingertips. I'm not sure if there is a flute equivalent of this but i...

Re: Dixon keyless flute (& piccolo)

I started playing whistles about two and a half years ago at the age of 58. After about a year I decided to take a chance and order a Tony Dixon D Piccolo as I was always very happy with the Dixon whistles that I own. Maybe I should not have given up on it quite so quickly but after a couple of mont...

It may be worth dropping an email to Erik the Flutemaker. I believe he uses Susato heads on his whistles maybe he could help.

Re: I knew I shouldn't have but.....

Let me first say from the start I'm certainly no expert, I've been playing whistle about two and a half years and can only comment on my own experience. I've bought a few Generation whistles since I started and the quality does seem to vary between them. I have a nickel B flat which is a great whist...
