Thanks, fatmac, I think I'll get hold of one if no cut-price Copleys appear on the site in the near future!fatmac wrote:Other than being a different key, a little quieter, & lighter in weight to hold. Mine is a 2 piece, whilst the M&E is a 3 piece.

That's a great idea -- I'd somehow missed that maker. How do you find it compares to the M&E?fatmac wrote:Well, as you are in the UK, I'd suggest looking at Damian Thompson, I think my delrin flute came within 3 weeks of ordering.

Re: Yet another beginner wants a flute
Thanks for all your responses! It's good to know so many people were able to take the flute up comparatively late in life! jim: the copley looks great, but I see a six month waiting list. Unfortunately, I'm not very well -- a six month wait represents a lot of time to me! If a second hand one comes ...

Here's one I did a couple of weeks ago... https://i.imgur.com/kYquBAF.jpg Speaking of which, I've started putting them up for sale, sort of. Not sure what the market for elaborate whistles is like, but I've sold some of the little ones. http://bjsinstruments.uk http://facebook.com/BJSInstruments

Don't judge the whistle harshly, I don't practice with it and I didn't take long to make this!

Those whistles look beautiful. I could imagine something like that selling really well! Would love to hear that bass D! Thanks! I sell a couple locally... not sure how to put them on the internet, I was thinking of just putting a couple on ebay. Yes, I need to actually make a sound recording of the...

Re: Photos of your collection!
I have a lot of whistles, because I like making them and I like experimenting. One day I should get around to selling the ones I make, but that part's always boring compared to the making! Sorry if the images are too big... this forum doesn't seem to let me specify image size. Here is a bass whistle...

Re: Photos of your collection!
I only have two whistles. I made them though well part of them the mouthpiece is from a Walton's little black whistle. They both have a gold ring around them and play pretty much like that same whistle! Made of pvc almost in tune. But good enough for me because I just solo. I love them! How'd you d...

Re: Picking a whistle from The Big Three makes no difference
So what I'm hearing from a lot of responses to my posts and reading other post is that if one is going to pick a whistle from either Generations or Waltons or Feadog, it's really half a dozen of one or six of the other in most cases because they're all pretty much the same level of quality control ...
