Tommy Martin (Thornton Whistles) makes a conical bore wooden whistle from time to time, looks like he’s back in Ireland now. Probably my favorite wooden whistle (Blackwood high D), but he also makes other keys in other woods, in addition to his pipes.

I use two separate bore brushes used for rifles- the cotton ones, not the wire ones (obviously). I put a very small amount of oil (I use a fretboard conditioner for guitars) on one brush and then use the second to wipe out any excess. Just wanted to say thanks for the great review (as well as all of your others!)- came across Tommy's new whistle videos recently and this review has really helped! Update: Ordered a Blackwood D, emailed Tommy and he mentioned that the whistle that Wanderer reviewed was the loudest out of that batch ...
