Re: Does it all come back to you - or not?

You do sound rather churlish. Should I just show myself to the door?

Re: US Postal Service

The tracking system is only giving occasional updates so you can go a week or so without knowing where the package is. We've switched to UPS for essential shipments. I've had a package sent UPS "Mail Innovations" recently. UPS transferred it to a Post Office facility less than half an hou...

Re: Does it all come back to you - or not?

I ordered up a Hohner Special 20...soon I shall find out, after 30-odd years, how long I'll need to get decent with the harmonica again. I got sick of waiting for USPS to move the aforementioned Special 20 out of "pre-shipment" (where is has been since 10 December!), so yesterday I made a...

Re: The most "chiff" sounding whistle???

Could it be something about the acoustics of an alloy or aluminum lower pitched whistle? Likely so. I'm not the best judge of "chiff," but the sound of my Feadóg best matches my understanding of that abstraction. My ABS/PVC whistles and the Clarkes are the farthest from "chiff,"...

Looks like it will end well. I can only hope the maker packaged the flute well...I have come to always expect the worst with FedEx.

FS/FT: piccolo and whistles

It's time to further cull the herd in preparation for, and anticipation of, a new musical endeavor. I have available the following instruments. All are key of D. Dixon Trad piccolo with alloy body. Looks great, sounds good on those rare occasions I can get a sound out of it. One rarely used piccolo ...

Re: Promises Broken

We don't exactly get our instruments from Mal-Wart. That's a good one! I must use it. I note that I am pretty short tempered these days unless I'm careful. Same here. My low opinion of this time of year helps not at all. I will add the following: in some cases, the seller may get shipments ready on...

Re: Does it all come back to you - or not?

This thread had one foot in the grave, so time to yank it out, I guess...and also return to its roots. As a kid, I had a Hohner Marine Band harmonica. I got to the point that, with a very simple instruction book, I could play a few tunes. Not very well, but at least you knew what I was playing. Fast...

Re: Greetings, Introduction, and Sindt Whistle Question.

I've never read a bad review of a Burke, MK, or Goldie, and if I did it got long lost in all the amazing things I've read about them. I feel like I could recommend them to anyone who was interested in them, and not feel like I'm misguiding them. Even though I haven't tried them myself. I will admit...

Re: Storing whistles in a toolbox

If my cats...knock the pistol case over, no big deal... And whaddya know...they did knock it off the table! It did its job and kept the whistles protected. I have often thought about adapting a keyboard case for whistles. With some egg-crate foam, that could work really well. A rifle case would als...

Re: Greetings, Introduction, and Sindt Whistle Question.

people usually say to go to your local store and try them all and pick the best one. Which is not a good sign for consistency. Ah yes, parrotting what you read on the internet. Trumps experience every time. One could make an argument, not without some legitimacy, that I am doing the italicized...bu...

The Ashley Book of Knots is the best resource in that regard; I've perused it in the past. When I find a copy that's in good shape, at a price I'm willing to pay, I shall own one.
