I was not suggesting it was indeed a fajardo wedge but suggesting its very similar. Fajardo wedges are use to correct intonation and indeed does have an effect on tone unlike this perturbation mod. Apologies for the confusion. As for the taper, it was referencing the flue and not headjoint :poke: . ...

Interesting discussion. What Hans has built and suggested is basically a Fajardo wedge. A tapered flue (which is how I build my instruments) helps the player a lot to bring the pitches up in tune with ease in the second octave so flue design plays an important role. Thats great news Brus! I have also seen some threads here about clogging in whistles. Try placing your tongue on the bottom of the mouthpiece then wrap your mouth around the beak as you would normally. This raises the tongue in the mouth and the air expelled from the lungs flows over the tongue surf...

I often see people saying blow harder to play the second octave, but what I like to tell people is to blow faster. I think it can help you develop good technique by thinking about it that way.

Great thread, perhaps make it a bit more like the WMD (whistle makers directory) format? I would also like to suggest that more information posted about what exactly listed individuals tweak. Some may simply make adjustments to voicing, tuning or even more complex repairs. Perhaps this could be a go...
