Re: Bnat recommendation please
I followed Richards instructions to mod a spare generation Bb that I had and it turned out amazing. To avoid extra headache you do need to start with a descent playing whistle mind you. I did the same mod on an Oak high C to create a C# and it didn't work out very well.

Love it. Be sure to play it as loud as you can tolerate. The last track is a proper party.
Also, only $5.00!!

Re: The Pogues ... who's got music?
Love the Pogues and our troop plays heaps of their songs. You'll find that most of their songs are covers, so it's easy to find whistle tabs or ABCs for most of them unless you want to play exactly like Spider. Martin Darvis (I think that's right) has helped me with Body of an American and Navigator...

Re: Whistle Giveaway
Bearing in mind the spirit of generosity in which this is intended, I’m not going to be hunting around looking too closely at the time signatures. What I will be doing is listening to some new tunes shared by others - I happen to have an affinity for 3/4 feeling tunes - and giving a whistle away. :...

Re: Whistle Giveaway
OK I have my work cut out for me since I really want this whistle, so here's a small story. haha My good friend Lisa who plays whistle and bodhran in our little troop brought me this album that was her mom's, growing up in Co. Louth. King of the fairies got under my skin (in a good way, like brining...

Re: Good bang-for-the-buck Low-G
I have a fixed alto G and F en route from Shearwater. They offer tuneable as well for an extra cost but prices seem very reasonable and they were great to deal with. Obviously can't give a review on the whistles until they are in my hot hands but the consensus has been positive. http://www.shearwate...

Re: Best way to fix crack in fipple head
It sounds a bit lame but it's an old fly tying trick to use clear nail polish called "hard as nails" Toxic sh*t but it works well.maiingan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 9:34 amWhat did you use for a glaze?Polara Pat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 8:10 pm My repairs look similar to Panceltic Piper's, but i finished with a hard glaze.

Re: Best way to fix crack in fipple head
I used fly tying thread and topped the whole thing in hard as Nails clear nail polish. Mine are now bulletproof Could you use dental floss? How do you get it tight enough? I gently viced the mouth piece so it wouldn't move around and my thread is on a bobbin so I can tie it off and whip tight loops...

Now I have a solid excuse to buy a low F. Any solid suggestions? I know there are many threads on this but let's see what folks think. I have a MK Pro Low F that I bought last year from a C&F member and I really love it. They come up for sale from time to time and you can get them used at a pri...
