WTB - Casey Burns "Folk" Flute Small-Hand Ergonomic
Hi all, My SO grew up playing (silver) flute, and wants to get back into it and play with me (uilleann piper). I have a Burns folk flute I'm happy dabbling with, and she likes the sound a lot more than her silver flute, but my standard size flute is a bit too much of a stretch for her to use. I want...

Crowley sets
I was wondering what makes Crowley chanters distinct in style, tone, design, etc, from other chanters. There's a lot of information about Rowsome, Taylor, Coyne pipes, etc, but it is hard to find much information on Crowley chanters. My interest in this is shamelessly self-indulgent. I play a D chan...

Re: Pipe muter
I have a swan bend chanter, so maybe that'd work! I've also been considering vpipes, instead of getting a new, quieter chanter. At least, if I'm going to drop a lot of money on a solution, the vpipes seem like the best bet.

Re: Pipe muter
I might try some of these suggestions. But some of them seem like a bit of finagling.
I tried just knocking on the neighbors door, gave them some contact info, and told them to call me if they're studying or taking a nap. So far, so good.

I thought about that. I wasn't sure if maybe it just seal up right if stuck on your knee a certain way. 'Tis why I ask

Pipe muter
I live in an apartment so finding a place to practice without disturbing people (or feeling like I'm disturbing people) can be challenging. I ran across someone mentioning a bagpipe muter and thought it looked interesting. Here's the link. http://www.barbarrickmusic.com/bagpipe-mute I've seen people...

Re: new here - Back D is flat. Solution?
All these posts have been helpful, but I doubt its a pressure thing. I've tried a variety of pressure and can't get it in tune. It seems that the rest of the holes are all in tune except for the c (which I fixed with electric tape). I'll try the bridle first, and then pulling the reed out. At this t...

new here - Back D is flat. Solution?
I've noticed that my back D is flat. The c-hole is a little sharp so I added electric tape and that solved the problem. If I want to sharpen my back d, do I need to shave x off reed or can should I raise/lower the reed in the chanter?
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks. I had already seen that topic, but I don't yet have permissions to private message the poster, so I was trying a different line of attack until that changes.

Kila Groovin' EP
I think that the members of Kila are quite talented musicians. They also compose some of the most unique and interesting tunes, even if not strictly trad. I know that their first release was a cassette and EP called "Groovin'", but I can't find recordings of any of those tracks anywhere. I...

Re: New to piping - Best way to long roll back D?
Thanks for all the replies. I admit I rather like the d-ghost d-d suggestion, but maybe that's just because I really like the timbre of the ghost d.

New to piping - Best way to long roll back D?
I got a practice set a month or two ago, but I've been playing whistle for several months. I haven't figured out a better way to roll on the back D except to double pat by "rubbing" my thumb on the hole. I don't know if this is right. Are there other (recommended) ways of playing a d-tripl...
