Re: Dixon Tapered Bore OR Kerry Optima

Thanks Richard, came across an interesting thread where you compare a number of Low D (including the Dixon and Optima) very helpful.

Re: Review: Optima vs V4

What's the date stamp on the V4 Gym?

According to an old thread I found, when it was toured/reviewed on here a couple of years ago the V4 was panned for being too quiet, too breathy.

But this video seems to indicate these issues have been addressed:

Re: Dorman low D whistle

Nice find Davy, looks nicely made, hole pattern seems unusual (to me anyway) tiny holes at the top, big space between bottom two holes.

Was considering going for it (needed to open an account first) but it sold seconds later.

Re: Dixon Tapered Bore OR Kerry Optima

£96.00

I've just had a look at the Kerry site (seems to be okay now, I know it's being relaunched soon, wonder if you saw a test page or something?) and the fixed Optima is on at £49.00 (phew)

Do like Dixon's though my poly High D is very sweet.

Thanks for taking the time to respond Davy.

Dixon Tapered Bore OR Kerry Optima

Hello everyone, been playing High D for around 18 months or so (Dixon poly one piece), now looking to try a Low D.

Don't want to (can't afford to) spend a fortune so I am looking at the two choices above.

Which would you say was best choice for a beginner?
