Re: Anybody Playing Vintage Boehm System Flute

Hi.
I have a Boehm wooden flute made by the hands of Theobald himself---has the original case and cleaning rod,
beautiful flute--lovely silver keys and mounts, made in 1847 and signed ''Th Boehm in Munchen". This flute was a gift to Andrew Carneigie from Boehm.

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

Jem its a long time ago around 1978--79, i do know it had a high key--maybe the other was a touch for the Bb, i'm getting it mixed up in my mind with a Monzani flute. the person who owned that flute has sold it a long time ago.

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

Hi Jem. That flute is not in my possession or never was, it belonged to a friend of mine, i am an 8 keyed flute player and would never have any interest in anymore keys, as far as i remember that 11 keyed flute of which i kept the serial # as i thought it was an odd flute for a R & R, i don't th...

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

It wasn't a great fishing day for the Co---they had it at $6000 but nobody was taking the bait and of course they then had to claim a withdrawn bid, i believe they were fishing from the very beginning some weeks ago, all they needed was a couple of bidders to play with, there are quite a number of a...

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

I also notice that the stamping is very fresh and preserved looking on every joint, i have a boxwood flute from close to the same period and the stamps are well worn and certainly suit the age of the flute---especially around the areas which would be held when putting the flute together or taking it...

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

I decided to take a look again tonight at that fine boxwood flute that wants to be a Rudall & Rose, i was checking the size of the large toneholes which i like very much on a flute-- and on doing this i noticed another problem the maker had with forgetfulness, when the R & R Co introduced qu...

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

Jem. when the Rudall & Rose Co finished making a flute it wasn't just put in a case and shipped out, there was quite a few flute makers in that company as you know and when a flute was finished it then went through three and maybe even four pairs of hands before it got the ok. tested for sound a...

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

Jon, if you can show me a Rudall & Rose 8 keyed flute other than the flute in question, with the address Rudall & Rose, 15 Piazza, London. without the inclusion of Covent Garden, then i will agree with your idea that its genuine, The flute can be what you want it to be in your mind, you proba...

Jon-- give us your idea about the placement of the embouchure hole, and the stopper or cap on the head-joint, also the address on the body of the flute, ?

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

I see what you mean Radcliff, but about copying an item---do you know that almost exact copies of American silver Morgan Dollars from the late 19th and early 20th century were copied in China and actually some passed by the experts who didn't recognize what exactly they were buying at some coin auct...

Re: Rudall & Rose 3260 in auction, Marietta Georgia

Bid on this flute as just a flute and not as a Rudall & Rose, i have been around rudall flutes for many years and i still play a boxwood Rudall with patent head, this flute up for auction is well made but not by the Rudall & Rose Co, i have come across two of this type of flute during the pa...
