Re: How difficult is too difficult?

Hi Anastasia...definitely don't try vibrato yet! I didn't get that down until I was an adult, and only because I learned it for singing. But once you get better playing, you can start focusing on things like vibrato. However, for breathing, do figure out approximately how many measures you can get ...

Re: Where to find sheet music for treble recorder?

Or you can play the alto with soprano fingerings. The notes won't be the same, but it will sound fine, I think. The melody will just be moved a few tones down.

Re: How difficult is too difficult?

Wow, so many replies. Thank you for the advice, everybody. then starting to string them back together while still resisting temptation to start speeding up or linking too much too soon just to hear what it might sound like Guilty :) don't fall into the trap of thinking you can play anything if you j...

How difficult is too difficult?

Hello! I'm learning to play the recorder on my own, for a little while now. I'm pretty enthusiastic about it, but sometimes I wish I had a teacher to recommend me some musical pieces to play or tell me if I'm making any mistakes. An issue I've been having lately, as I moved to a little bit more chal...

Re: Nice to meet you! and 1 question

Yes, I wasn't really thinking of buying a wooden one, I usually put my stuff in much stress. My books are drawn onto with some coffee and folded pages, my jeans are ripped... you know. I like to take my guitar to the beach and to the mountain... I enjoy more durable things. I'm also clumsy. So plast...

What kind of flute is this?

I found it randomly among some ancient souvenirs, my parents have no idea where it came from. :p
I'd appreciate some help with its identification.
I don't know what its tone is, I suppose a C, but i'm not sure and it generally sounds off-tune.

Re: Nice to meet you! and 1 question

Greetings and welcome! I think a recorder should be able to handle early music as well as most kinds of folk music (not to mention many eras of art music!) I know there are whistley type instruments native to the Balkans and so forth that may (or may not) be more appropriate to those musics. As for...

Nice to meet you! and 1 question

Hello, hello everybody! I just joined the forum, looking for some information about wind instruments, and it seems very interesting, I must say. I "normally" play the guitar, and I never was really interested in them. So, some days ago, I found an old wooden flute/recorder in a drawer and ...
