Playing instruction for askomandoura
Dear Pipers, 2 summers ago I came back from a summer holiday in a Crete with a lovely double chanter askomandoura (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Askomandoura), which is a bagpipe also known in some other country as tsambouna. I've tried to find some basic playing instruction everywhere, but had ...

Re: Amhrán Mhuínse -abc file or sheet -help
Thanks to both, Nanohedron and Mr.Gumby, for this interesting and deep discussion! To my ears, which possibly are not so fine to know subtleties as yours, Liam Og Flynn intervention is a variation of the melody line that Paul Brady next sings, which is again a little different than the abc dots Mr.G...

Re: Amhrán Mhuínse -abc file or sheet -help
Mr.Gumby, in my humble opinion, the melody line, apart from melisms' of sean nos singing, is really looking substantially the same.

Re: Amhrán Mhuínse -abc file or sheet -help
After listening to another version, is it possible that it is the same melody of "Rock of Bawn"?

Amhrán Mhuínse -abc file or sheet -help
I accidentally stumbled surfing on the web in this beautiful ancient gaelic song, which has many versions (Altan, Danu, and John Beag O'Flatharta -possibly the most moving of them all). I find this is absolutely perfect for a uilleann pipes version. Has anyone some hint on where is possible to find ...

Re: Whistle B pitched
Just a final update: Mack Hoover whistle B-pitched has landed in my home today. Absolutely one of the best whistles I ever played. The sound is beautiful, the pitch is perfect. The amount of air is what I asked: no need to blow too weak, no need to blow too strong, but a middle blowing which the pla...

Re: Whistle B pitched
Thanks again to every soul!
I ended up ordering a B from Mack Hoover.
I was very fascinated by OZ whistle, but they coswt a lot and, moreover, I'd have to pay an immense sum to italian customs.

Re: Whistle B pitched
Thanks everybody for all suggestions! Very interesting the nice dispute of tweaking school of thought vs the "buy a new one" school of thought ! As I'm not a good DIYer, I'm thinking to go for a new one, but as a matter of fact, I'm intrigued to try the "kill & cut a Bb (Generatio...

Whistle B pitched
I'm searching for a reliable whistle pitched in B, as I want to double melody and countersing my uilleann pipe B chanter. It seems anyway very difficult to find one. After some quick research I found and bought a Shaw, but I find it quite disappointing. It needs an enormous amount of air to produce ...
