And I do believe the first few notes of the whistle part are (high) d-e-f-g. The first few notes are c _e f g2 and the key of tune is Ab. So you are correct in picking up your Eb whistle. This tune is a faster played version of the "how little we know" which was played earlier in this mov...

Why don’t you just send a snail-mail to the address where you sent your whistles?
In that mail, you may ask how he is doing and explain your concern on your whistles.
His family may read it and respond to it, in case he cannot.

Phenolic resin is the material used to make the composite models of Burke whistles.
And Mr. Mack Hoover is also using it to make his whistles.
If your whistle sounds nice, you will see the material differently.
