Re: Moll. Denner or Moeck Rottenburgh alto?
That's a decent choice. I have the same one from over a decade ago and still use it. I have others that give me different sound qualities depending on what I am playing, but the Denner is a solid instrument.

Re: HELP! juddering sound to notes on my c soprano
Hi...it's been a while since I've been on here. If you have a very soft wooden toothpick, you can use this to pick out the particle very gently and carefully. I also use toothpicks if I need to scrape off built-up residue of wax at the joints. Hope this helps.

Re: Recommend a plastic alto recorder?
I'm a little late to the game here, but I own the Ecodears and the Aulos higher end series (I also used to own the higher end Yamaha ABS ones, but gave that to my daughter who needed a set for teaching). I find that the Ecodears sound sweeter, closer to the sound of wood than the Aulos. I can also t...

Re: How to clean bore of Clarke original and Shaw D whistles
Try using a craft pipe cleaner. You can loop it around a small bit of cloth as well to swab things out that way. I've actually purchased some tiny nylon brushes used for cleaning out baby bottle parts and straws. Failing that, you can also get some strips of felt and cut them down to fit. I'm a reco...

Re: Got myself a clarinet
I'm impressed that you can do this after only a few weeks. My daughter plays clarinets, and I remember it took a while for the kids to get a decent sound out of it, much less an actual song. I would recommend getting an instructor to at least make sure your embouchure is correct so the notes come ou...

Re: Need info about Mollenhauer and Moeck Recorders
The Mollenhauer does look like a Chorus; I own a soprano like that, but with dark varnish. It is very likely pearwood because I don't believe Mollenhauer makes the student models in the more expensive woods, at least, I'd never seen them. From what I've seen on eBay, an alto Chorus might get you abo...

Re: Need info about Mollenhauer and Moeck Recorders
Hi Al, I can't see the images for some reason, even when I've copied this link on different browsers. I've got some many things blocked, though, for security reasons, but even on my least secure browser, I can't see this. Is it possible to post these in such a way that I don't have to sign into Goog...

Re: I just bought this Rosewood Chinese dizi flute for $60..
Oh, that's too bad. I will mention that I had purchased another bamboo flute a while back from a regular store, not from Amazon, and at first it sounded okay. Relative pitch was fine, but when I got it home, I realized it was tuned too sharp, and it was a single piece, no tuning slide. I ended up to...

Re: I just bought this Rosewood Chinese dizi flute for $60..
The tuning is definitely at concert pitch. I checked by ear against a tuned piano, but, even better, I had someone with perfect pitch check it. I also have several of the cheaper bamboo dizi flutes, and they are all in tune, though I can tell the tone is not quite as nice as this rosewood one. I mus...

I just bought this Rosewood Chinese dizi flute for $60...
It was on Amazon (I have Prime, so I don't know how it would work for others), but I've never seen a dizi flute made from rosewood. I have several cheapie ones made by Kmise in many keys, and those were less than $20 each, but they play decently. This rosewood one is a professional model, and it rea...

Re: Ebay luck and advice on cleaning wooden whistles
I don't know if this will work, but I work on my recorders quite a bit, and I've had a few old ones that I bought used, and were pretty gross. It depends how careful you are (I'm very careful), but to start, try using toothpicks or wood cuticle sticks (called orange sticks), which are sharp, but fla...

Re: My wife made some whistle racks
Nice...now I want to do DIY racks for my whistles. These are nice because I can just get the supplies from the local hardware store and make them with some basic tools, and I don't have to have all the woodworking tools required to turn my own pieces. I found that the best stands for my low whistles...

Oh, I actually already have those coming. I was thinking the low whistles in the Albas or Chieftains.
