I recently purchased a very nice wine imported from NZ, Tuatea. The second T has two short line through it, much like a =. What is this? A letter in the NZ alphabet or a pronunciation mark?

Maggie

There seems to be endless tunes dedicated to Maggie. Are these given to one exceedingly popular Maggie or several Maggies?

Re: High School Sports

My grade school sports team's name was the "Red Raiders" and its symbol was a profile of a standard, cliché American Indian. The name has fallen into disfavor and may be changed. What do you think? Should it or no? This is a political topic. Or rather, I don't see how it can't be politica...

Father's Day

I overlooked posting earlier. On Father's Day several people at my workplace wished me a happy father's Day. This seems very odd to me. "Happy Father's Day." is what one might say to one's own father, not some random male coworker. What do you think?

Re: CAT CLICKS

Oh, I see. I thought you meant a video game, not prey. I've never known my cat to pray. He usually sleeps through the canonical hours. And the worldly hours as well. As to games, I had hoped to have him learn backgammon but without opposable thumbs this was in vain. This question of clicking was tal...

D and C

Whistle tutorials always seem to use a D whistle. Harmonica tutorials, a C. Are there musical or other reasons for the these instruments to be based in their respective key?

Perhaps birds or a squirrel. Nothing seems to come of it as they much prefer tuna.

CAT CLICKS

My two cats, when excited, especially by game, do a very odd clicking with their jaw. Anyone know why?

GOLDFINCH WHISTLES

I have a Goldfinch "Airy Tale" D which I quite like. I find it takes a considerable push to get the second octave, Anyone else with this whistle finding this? Is it more likely in the whistle or my playing? Is this what is referred to as "back pressure"?

Re: PRE TV?

I have gotten some interesting responses to this query. This motivated me to look up a bit of TV history. I was surprise to find there was a mechanical TV in the late 1800s. Electric TV was invented in 1927. It much surprises me to read responses here of people who first got a TV in the 60s. I was b...

Re: TELL ME A STORY!

All good, right thinking people SLICE boiled eggs to consume them. Do they indeed? Where I come from, that would be thought effete. But maybe I need some polish. Here's how this smelly beast does it: If they're hardboiled, I first peel them - nobody has yet mentioned that step, so I must conclude t...
