Re: New Whistle- Susato with pitch pocket????
That's an interesting innovation, thanks for posting that. I wasn't took impressed by the odd brown colour in the picture you posted (they look 'painted' as well) but on this link they are the more usual black: http://www.susato.com/konakart/Pennywhistles/Dublin/1_139_-1_45.do As for the difference ...

Chieftain NR Low D Question
Earlier this week someone posted a link showing Phil Hardy of Kerry Whistles playing a number of high D's, after watching that on Youtube I followed some of the other Chieftain whistles links including this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKQTO_qosVc I'm a touch surprised by this, around the 11...

Re: MK Low A
Thanks for that JoFo nice playing. Interesting to hear the MK at last, pretty much what I was expecting but I must say that Alba is a surprise, I've tried a low D & F and in the past and wasn't impressed with either but your A sounds really good.

1. Probably more to do with Bernard's demise and licensing issues.Peter Duggan wrote:Guessing because 1. he prefers to use his own name and 2. they've evolved over his years of making them?
2. I think my wife's Ford Mondeo is considerably 'evolved' from the Ford Model T, still a called Ford however.

Re: Intro- Hello everyone
A friend on mine paid almost £800.00 for a Tenor Saxophone MOUTHPIECE, YES £800.00 just think of the number of whistles you could buy with that!! I think the answer to that is "at least one"! (Or perhaps more about half a whistle, if you're in the market for that low D sterling Copeland t...

Re: Dixon Trad tone deterioration - tweaks/repair
It doesn't take much in that area to significantly change the character and tone of a whistle. Very much, I've posted another thread ('Adjusting The Blade') about an iffy blade on a Kerry Pro low D, I sanded out a couple of chips on the blade and smoothed out the scratches .. wow totally different ...

Re: Dixon Trad tone deterioration - tweaks/repair
Oh man! I was cruising through the forum and misread it as 2016, not '15! My bad. Newbie alert :tomato: That's answers why it was so far back! Haha. It's a fine line though Mike; as a long time browser I've often seen posters rebuked for starting a new thread, then strongly advised to use the 'Sear...

What happened with Overton whistles?
When Bernard retired and Colin Goldie took over they were still known as Overton whistles for a while (or Overton - Goldie I think) then they became Goldie whistles, any reasons for this name change?

Re: Adjusting The Blade
Despite Loren's sage advice and common sense dictating I leave this alone, I bought the Kerry Pro (at a very good price) and with heart a trembling, lashings of water and well used square of 1200 grit Wet & Dri I took the plunge and ... It seems I've got away with it PHEW!! Don't have a working ...

Re: Intro- Hello everyone
Thank you, Cliff. Why must good whistles be so expensive? I guess the flip side of a great instrument maker is always the price You're welcome. As Maki rightly said in comparison to other instruments they're not too bad really (that's why we all end up with TOO many) A friend on mine paid almost £8...
