Low F. Optima or Shearwater?
Considering a low F and want a solid whistle but not too loud and easy to play in the 2nd octave. Out of these two which would be recommended? Or any other ideas?

What is the purpose of the the dimple on the sound blade on the Clarke Original? Is it a positive? Jerry Freeman flattens it out. What does that achieve?

Question on how to start playing whistle
In some videos I have seen Colin Goldie and other whistle players cover the winway and blow sharply into the whistle before playing. What is the reason for this? It must have something to do with getting the whistle prepared but I wonder why? Thanks!

I really like the Dixon brand. I prefer the polymer as the brass Trad was too harsh for me. But the polymer has just the right balance of tone.
