Re: What's wrong with the fit of my pipes?

I'm only seeing one image at your imgur link, mainstock & bellows tube tie-in. Whoops, sorry, not sure what happened there. I added that image last as an afterthought! I think you're right that the neck is too long for where it is, but I'm not convinced where it is is right, if that makes sense.

Re: Irish Pibroch or Ceol Mor

As with all these things, I'd be cautious about what you read online - there are a lot of people with bees in their bonnets out there, and some have more enthusiasm than scholarship. However, that the Scottish ceòl mór genre also had some kind of a foothold in Ireland is quite certain, and it's like...

What's wrong with the fit of my pipes?

Here are some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/gdyLOXt I don't have a tape measure to hand but as you can see I am generously proportioned, perhaps 48-50 inches around at the point my bellows strap sits. And I am having real problems with things not pointing comfortably in the right direction. The dron...

Re: McCallum getting into uilleann making

The thing about MacCallum is that although they are a volume manufacturer, their setup is such that it is very easy for them to do small runs. You load twenty bits of wood into the feed, and tell it to run 19 off GHB chanters and 1 off Morrison Uilleann chanter, and so on. So there's no commercial u...

Where are you from Cameron? Much easier to point you in the right direction if we know that.

I'm afraid as a rough guide you want to multiply the amount you spent by about ten...

Re: Boxwood blight

My smallpipes were made out of delrin two decades ago and while there might be little romance in it, they play just fine and will outlast me. It's not great fun to turn by hand, but in this CNC age I'm sure someone will grasp the nettle soon enough.

I love the editorial interventions the engraver has made there. Very telling.

Re: Alan Logan Information

Alan's GHB work is notorious for its variability, though his good instruments are very good indeed. His output was not massive.

He was a Scots Guardsman under Angus MacDonald. As fas as I know his piping career came to an end when he was jailed for child lichen possession a few years back.

Re: One for the mathematician

I have done a quick spreadsheet using the formulae coloman pointed at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ehFM8ucu6d2rWM6iS_tXpV7aKUSK8F8fuiMWOkQ02d8/edit?usp=sharing and pinching Andy's numbers. There's an error in there, though, and I'm scratching my head a bit to figure out what it is. My fi...

Re: Britishairways tips

Top tips: if you can, use shoulder straps so that you're not obviously carrying something big and bulky to the gate. Second, check in early and get to the front of the queue. The last people on are the ones who get their luggage hoiked. Doesn't really matter what airline it is, the guidelines are al...
