Re: How do I polish a Copeland whistle?

Once I have mine shining to my satisfaction, I keep it that way by taking the time to wipe the whistle down with a silicon impregnated cloth after playing. It seems to help a bit.

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

And today, May 25, 2016, my order has been completed. That is 20 weeks after the order for the C and D whistles, and 18 weeks after the order for the G whistle. More on this later but for now, about the whistles themselves: Material: excellent. CPVC body, aluminum and delrin (I think) fipple...

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

Any "shaming" I've done is to get you to quit ignoring me, a customer who you over-committed to. You need to understand something very clearly, Nick. Had you not made a lot of verbal commitments to me regarding schedule, the FIRST EMAIL you would have received would have been today, at the...

Thank you all for your sage and sound advice.

I am sorry for ranting but I am very frustrated.

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

Again, you are correct. The truth is, I would not have contacted him until today (his 9 week turn around) except that he gave me reason to believe they would be done weeks ago. If Mr. Metcalf has completed a whistle or whistles, I don't want to leave him hanging for that. If he hasn't begun construc...

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

Well, of course you are right. I won't deny that. My point is that this Metcalf character portrays himself as a devout Christian. Taking someone's money for one thing and using it for another is not very Christian. My purpose in that statement stands: to shame this man into doing what is right. Not ...

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

Well, that's interesting. First of all, to defend this gentleman, it is not possible to know whether an instrument plays 100% accurately or not until you play it. I've heard a couple of his instruments and they sound very good to me. Second of all, I'd like to give you my personal interpretation of ...

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

You're right, of course. But it was him who suggested the schedule under which the agreement was made. How do I ask for a refund if he will not communicate with me?

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

This is week 9 and while I agree that he has 2 more days on this sale to reach 9 weeks, I am very concerned that he refuses to communicate with me. Also, his statements to me as to schedule (see original post) were his not mine. Part of our original negotiations included his original schedule. Had h...

Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf

Just before the new year on December 31, 2015, I ordered two whistles from Ethnicwinds. When I ordered them Nick Metcalf suggested there would be a two week build time. A while later, I added a third whistle which Mr. Metcalf suggested would be ready, along with the two others, on January 25. Since ...

Re: Ears hurt - Would a lower whistle better protect my hearing?

They make small foam ear plugs for the shooting sports that are very affordable and will probably work well for you. "Volume" can be adjusted by how well they are seated. :D They also make electronic sound blocking headphones for the shooting sports that allow you to adjust the ambient vol...

Re: Which recorder shop should I use for wood recorders

I'm not familiar with any of the shops you mention but wanted to give you some advice. I recently bought a Moeck recorder. As I was searching for a shop to buy it, one shop bragged to me how they "tweak and fine tune" all recorders sent out. I chose a different shop but had I bought mine t...

Re: Dazed and Confused

Thanks for all the tips and encouragement. I agree to a large extent with most all comments. I do realize that it is "me" and not the instrument to some extent. I am indeed a beginner on the whistle. Even as a beginner, I have found that how I blow will indeed change the pitch of a given n...

Dazed and Confused

I'm rather new to the whistle and to this forum, so hello! I've played flute and recorder on and off for decades, and only recently discovered the Irish whistle, which I have come to really enjoy. I've bought Clarkes, Waltons, and and Feadogs and all seem to suffer the same problems. 1.) Not one of ...
