Re: tunetranscriber - free slow down
The Roni music ASD sounds so much better when slowed down. Transcribing tunes is hard enough with having to fight through awful sound quality, IMO. The software Transcribe! is also something that helps tremendously, making the process far less painful.

Re: Going to see Riverdance tonight in Mesa, AZ
Hm, it is possible more knowledge of history would have helped it hang together in my head. I had no idea that a significant amount of Spanish men washed ashore on Ireland when the Armada was routed. However, that event happened, I believe in the 1600s, and flamenco was formed in the 1800s--not to m...

Re: Going to see Riverdance tonight in Mesa, AZ
The musician who covered the whistle and pipes parts was, I believe, this gentleman: http://riverdance.com/the-show/cast/matt-bashford/ The show started with him playing an introduction on the low whistle, and he had perhaps half a dozen other chances to play short solos. He also did a long solo on ...

Re: So... don't bring your whistle to Disneyland
There would be far too many competent musicians, writers, tennis players, etc. if people didn't watch TV! Perhaps it is the modern day version of "circuses"--and so convenient!

Re: So... don't bring your whistle to Disneyland
Apparently, there is a list of 100 items you can't bring to Disney, and one of them is "musical instrument". This put me in quite a bind, as not only could I not go into the park with my family, but I was not even allowed to cross the plaza to where my bus could pick me up. I asked her if...

Re: So... don't bring your whistle to Disneyland
Anyone who plays Joe Hisashi on their pennywhistles is a friend of mine :). For some reason, I always thought an ocarina would be the natural choice. One of these days, I am going to learn how to play the theme from Howl's Moving Castle on my classical guitar. Disneyland is a fascinating and siniste...

So... don't bring your whistle to Disneyland
What the title said. I can anticipate reactions anywhere from "duh, of course" to "why not?" Apparently, there is a list of 100 items you can't bring to Disney, and one of them is "musical instrument". It never crossed my mind that I couldn't bring my Clarke original, t...

Re: Good low D whistle for beginner?
Sounds like the decision has been made and lots of good information and advice already given. I would say that my Becker Low D plays in tune, and for $18, not a bad first-time purchase to see if you can do Low D's. I ordered it off his site. He didn't answer my email asking for an ETA, but it came a...

Re: What's the current state of the slowdowning art?
Amazing slowdowner is pristine, even at extreme settings. Has to be heard to believe it. He has a free, lite version, but youll need to upgrade for usability. $15.

Re: quena chin?
[THREAD REVIVAL - MOD] I hope it's okay to revive the thread briefly. I benefited from it and wanted to add to it. I quit playing my rosewood (jararanda) kena/quena I bought from Andean Nation because of a sore that would develop under my lip after playing it. I assumed it was due to the pressure. ...
