Re: Generation B natural?

Top tip ... go down to your local DIY/Hardware store and buy a pipe-cutter. Don't try to cut the pipe with a hacksaw.

Re: High Ds with minimal impact on lungs/chest

I know it's not fashionable to say, but what about a Generation D? Sweet and nimble requiring little air, "traditional" sounding with basically no back pressure. If you want to go a little step further, then it's still possible to pick up Generation whistles from the 70s that came from a d...

Buying too many whistles makes you blue.

You're surprised that he's playing a nineteenth century style concert flute?

Re: Cork Grease - ecological

OK, so I've tried looking this up, and the closest that I've got is articles like the following: https://www.leafscore.com/nontoxic-cosmetics/is-beeswax-eco-friendly/ So, I suspect that what they mean by "bee-friendly" is that this is beeswax is not from a big commercial setup, no moving o...

bee-friendly beeswax from Dorset
How does that work? Not sure the bees the wax was taken from will think it was a 'friendly' action.
I have no idea.

Re: Cork Grease - ecological

I'm looking for a recipe for an ecological cork grease with bees wax. Can someone help? Greetings and thanks Holger I've just bought the Ionareed "Cork Remedy" cork grease which is "made using bee-friendly beeswax from Dorset", and uses "packaged in 100% recyclable packagin...

Re: Remarkable Innovation by William Pond

"I don’t play musical instruments, have no idea how to play this flute. It works." Hmmm. Just for fun I pulled out a Zenon treble recorder head from the Cupboard of Doom and put it onto the end of my flute, replacing the normal Long D foot. It just happened to jam on well enough. The resu...

I'm surmising that you're talking about the Great Highland Bagpipes (there are dozens and dozens, probably hundreds, of different types of bagpipes), so you may be interested in this:]

Re: How many high whistles is too many?

As with many things, it all depends. I'll tune my whistles at a session, some people don't, or are not able to. Recently at our session we've been getting up to four whistle players (whistle only) and myself who alternates with melodeon. None of us are playing loud whistles and they don't clash all ...

Re: Tweaking a whistle with a dirty/harsh sound

These things happen They certainly do. They're malignant and deceptive. But they're not the same thing as outsourcing cnc operations, which is a legitimate production method. Indeed, there's a well known English whistle brand where the production happens in some local engineering shop, with the des...

Re: Whistles which sound like the Clarke Original ?

The modern-day Clarke whistles are not the same as the ones when I were a lad. Actually, they were only in C back then, but what I mean is huge wind-way cavity that you have to blow into and the strange shape of the labium. I'm not going to tell you how to do it, or even recommend it (whistle destru...

Re: Tweaking a whistle with a dirty/harsh sound

The most likely scenario is that the manufacture of the 'folk' whistle, Generation's cheaper line, has been farmed out to a cheap labour country, just like Clarke has done with its cheaper line, the Meg. Nothing unusual or concerning there. The Generation "folk whistles" have the same &qu...
