Re: Jerry Freeman Low G
My Freeman low (alto) G with the aluminum body was delivered a few days ago. What a wonderful whistle. I can't put it down.

Re: Jerry Freeman Low G
As far as I know, Jerry does not use aluminum. Are you certain the brass didn't look like aluminum due to the lighting, etc. ? I'm very curious myself, now.

Re: Jerry Freeman Low G
Jerry makes his own G and A tone bodies; he hasn't used any Generation Bb tone bodies on his G and A. His original A, using his own tone body, had a smaller diameter than his current A.

Re: WTB: High C Whistle
Since you are maybe considering a Susato, let me say that the Susato Oriole line is very different from from their Kildares. The Oriole C is not as loud as the Kildare, but loud enough for me. I really enjoy playing the Oriole C.

John Bushby is a bit behind schedule because of an illness of a family member. Shearwater is still going strong.

Re: Want to Trade Dixon Alto A Traditional Brass Whistle for another alto A
I used to have the Dixon brass A and G. Both were soft blowers and needed a deft touch. I switched to other whistles, but now wish I had kept them as part of my collection. Regarding brasso, I like my brass tarnished. I have no idea why, but to my ears, tarnished and worn whistles sound better.

Re: Alba Mezzo A Question
I've heard your mezzo A on your YouTube post, Richard. It certainly is a sweet player. Likewise, the Susato Oriole C uses an optimum tone body for my taste. It shares the tone body with the D and Bb.

Re: Alba Mezzo A Question
Thank you for your input, Richard. If the Alba G shares the tone body with the A, the A wouldn't be to my liking. I must say, the G and Bb are beautiful players.

Alba Mezzo A Question
I am enjoying playing the Alba mezzo G and the Bb. The C, not as much. The C shares the same tone body diameter as the Bb, and while the Bb feels superb (to me) the C is a bit loud and stiff. So, here is the question: Does the A share the same tone body diameter as th G or the Bb? I thought I would ...

Re: Removing Ancient Poster Putty
I once placed a small amount of poster putty on a flat end of a pencil and pushed inside the whistle. The new poster putty stuck to the old, dried out poster putty and the whole thing came right out.

Re: Half-holing C-nat
My pinkies made quite a journey as well. I actually played the Highland pipes before injuries side-lined me and I gravitated into the world of recorders because the number of holes were the same. As much as I enjoyed the recorder, I wanted it to sound like a whistle, so naturally, I bought a whistle...

Re: Half-holing C-nat
Using the pinky to stabilize the whistle is impossible for me. Maybe it's the way my fingers have been manufactured; with the pinky down, my ring finger is immobile. Thus, both my pinkies serve as ridiculous conductors while my other fingers diligently obey my commands, albeit poorly.

Re: Thoughts or info on New Hudson Whistles
I wonder where they came up with the name, Hudson. Hudson River? Maybe Hudson runs the shop where these whistles are made.
