I recently got an old wooden flageolet, the English type, 7 open holes and 6 new silver keys, and an Ivory beak. The wood is probably palissander. It sometimes happens to me that I sightly hit the short F key with RH4 and a leak develops there.

Why not a take piece of cork of the right diameter of a wine bottle, dril a hole in it and place it between the disc and the wooden end cap?

As far as the wood is concerned, difficult tu judge from the pictures, but I would say grenadilla.

Wooden Flute Question

I once copied a picture of a wooden flute in its case.
Apart from the flute itself I can see something sitting in the case that looks like a small gold colored ring.
I just wonder what is the use of such a ring?

I always wonder what the use is of the long RH1 key that controls a hole close to the head joint of my 10-key simple system flute.
Does anyone ever use it?
