Re: Insurance and Traveling
Being paranoid about such things, I built myself a case (like an anvil road case but lighter) that is 22x14x7 inches, so it is actually smaller (on the third dimension) than most airlines allow. My full D set gets taken apart and put in padded sleeves and the whole set fits in there. I have to take ...

Piobairi Ard Mhacha – The Armagh Pipers documentary on BBC2
Is there a way to watch this documentary if you don't live in the UK (cuz I don't)? The BBC 2 website blocks watching the three episodes from outside the UK and I would like to watch it.

Re: Vpipes for sale
I find them very useful for playing through tunes when my real pipes are not appropriate, to build up muscle memory and practice new and already known tunes. True they are not 100% the same and you have to watch out for things they let you do that a real set would forbid (or things a real chanter wi...

Re: William Kennedy Piping Academy
Lee, forgot to respond to your weather and class advice. Yep I am all over the weather thing. Rain gear is ready but I may have to buy a coat for this "cold" you talk about. Kind of foreign to me at this point! And kids in classes - no lie! I taught a banjo and mandolin class at the St Lou...

Re: William Kennedy Piping Academy
Yep, the "how do you get grouped" was a question I had. I didn't know if it was self-grouping or "play something and we will sort you out" or what. And it sounds like the teaching style is "the usual". Anyway, thanks for the answer - I am really looking forward to it. S...

Re: William Kennedy Piping Academy
Thanks Lee. To clarify, I have already spoken with the organizer and he has been lovely to get information from. I am just looking for an actual student perspective. I am already signed up and have bought my plane tickets and such - definitely going. Events always look different from the inside vs t...

William Kennedy Piping Academy
Who here has taken the classes at the William Kennedy Piping Academy? I am going this year and would like a little insight as to how the classes are organized, how they are run and what your experience was like as a student please. Not really looking for your take on the Festival (it looks awesome) ...

Re: Perfect D practice set HARD CASE ?
Any of those will too long to technically meet the airlines carry on bag size requirement, although you will probably get away with a viola case. My practice set fits perfectly into a tenor ukulele gig bag or into a mandolin gig bag. It mostly depends on how big the bellows are. Mandolins are wider ...

Re: CP: Tonight at Paddy Mac's
My copy got here (Houston, Texas area) earlier this week and it is just a really really nice album of great tunes played well. No pyrotechnics, nothing non-trad, just very MUSICAL. A real pleasure. And I don't even know these guys except for see their names on C&F. Well done!

Re: Pipe muter
That is exactly why I own some vPipes and they work fine for that purpose. They would never replace my real pipes but they make it convenient to practice when and where I normally could not. On the muter idea though, you could make a cover over the chanter with slots for your hands and it might work...

My review is quite simple. Really nice bunch of music, really well played, just an all around joy.
