Re: Unfortunate URLs

A friend of mine was looking for Dick's Sporting Goods' website and typed in www.dicks.com.
It was NOT sporting goods.

Since then I believe the store has claimed that domain, but I imagine a lot of people got unpleasant surprises from that.

Re: Dixon Tapered Bore Low D Gateway To A 'Better' Instrument?

It's been mentioned but I feel like I should emphasize that the Dixon is a lot quieter than other whistles I've tried. Whether that's a bonus, a negative, or irrelevant depends on the player and the setting.

Re: Sort of CP...

I would recommend against embedding music. Having audio samples is good, but people usually don't want music playing without their permission.

Re: Good low D whistle for beginner?

I have fat stumpy fingers and started out on a Dixon low D with very little difficulty, so while I haven't much else to compare it to I'd say it works for a beginner.

Me too, but starting in Windows 8 they're calling programs apps, probably to appeal to the smartphone-toting younger crowd.

Recently bought a Dixon Trad D. Nothing crazy/exotic/exciting, I know, but I like it way better than the Clarke I'd been playing on.

If you pack them in caped piping as recommended above, expect to be thoroughly searched. They'll look exactly like pipe bombs.

Re: Newbie with low D whistle/flute questions...

I just started on whistles a few months ago, and started on a Dixon low D. My fingers aren't particularly long, but I didn't have too much trouble getting going. Just like any instrument it takes some work. The good part about starting on low whistle is that if you move to a tinwhistle, you're amaze...
