Do whistles wear out?
A fellow player mentioned to me the other day that they find whistles wear out after a few years and don't sounds as sharp. Has anyone experienced that? I've only been at it for a few years. So perhaps I just haven't played enough tunes yet. But it doesn't make sense to me. Sure, wood can eventually...

Re: Wexford Carol
Thanks, Richard. I don't have any formal musical training. To transpose the tune from G to A, do I just shift everything up by one note?
So instead of starting with EGGFG, it would be FAAGA?
If that's right, where does the G# fall?
Thanks again for the help.

Abell Vs. Oz
Hello all - I'm considering treating myself to an Oz or an Abell whistle. Anyone have thoughts on one vs the other? One thing that matters to me: I live in an apartment, and my neighbors appreciate quieter whistles. I know Abells can be pretty loud, but I'm not sure about Ozs. Best, Joe

Fixing cracked fipples
Hello all - I have two Feadogs, a C and D, of which I'm fond. Both have developed hairline cracks in the fipple. Any advice on fixing? Tape? Glue? Chewing gum? Best, Joe

FT: MK Kelpie low D DONE
Hello all - I bought an MK Kelpie low D two years back and have hardly played it.
Anyone interested in trading for a low G?
Here is a link to the whistle new: http://mkwhistles.com/kelpie-ld.html
It comes with a felt carrying case.
I'm happy to send pictures to anyone interested.
Best,
Joe

I used number notation when first learning. My memory is using 0/2 for C-nat. Best, Joe

Re: Tune book suggestions
Hey thanks. By "session tune book" I simply meant a book of jigs, reels et al. I suppose "tune book" would have done the job.
Nonetheless, I got the suggestions I sought. Thanks much.
Best,
Joe
