WTB Milligan Whistle

I am hoping to find a Milligan Whistle in High D. I prefer the quiet mouthpiece.

Piccolo

Looking into getting a piccolo, but I have a lot of questions. I currently play Highland Pipes, flute, and whistle. A lot of what I've read suggests that a piccolo can be harsh, shrill (and other pejorative terms). Some of the whistles I have fit that description. I am hoping to find a piccolo that ...

Re: Looking for a new whistle

Thanks for all the great insights.

I just ordered a Freeman Tweaked Blackbird.
I think it will be just right for me.

Re: Milligan quiet mouthpiece

I just found a review online. The reviewer said that the quiet mouthpiece is somewhat quieter than the session mouthpiece, but, in the end, not what one would call very quiet.

Milligan quiet mouthpiece

I have been on Gene's website and I see that he now has an optional mouthpiece that he describes as quiet. Has anyone had any experience with this mouthpiece? I wonder how quiet it is, and how this might impact on the sound quality. I have been getting a lot of really great and insightful comments o...

Re: Looking for a new whistle

Thanks, everyone for the great insights. I like the idea of a tweaked blackbird. Any comments about moving to a wooden whistle? I had been thinking about contacting Gene Milligan and inquiring about his whistle with a quiet (practice) mouthpiece.

Looking for a new whistle

Good afternoon, all. I am looking for a new whistle. I am currently playing a Killarney brass in D. I am quite happy with it, but looking for a bit of a change. I very seldom find myself playing is sessions. Mostly solo, and most frequently playing for my own enjoyment at home. I am finding the Kill...

It's complicated choosing a flute

It is a real education, and so many variables . I have a Shannon (delrin, Walt Sweet) and it's a great flute. The only difficulties I am having are the stretch between holes, and that the holes are a bit too big. Great flute....but small hands. Lesson one for me has been that a flute has to be a goo...

Re: FS Set of Elfsong Whistles

I will consider an offer.
I have far more whistles than I need. These are sitting idle.
Regards to all.

Tony Millyard Flutes?

I have read a few reviews of Tony's flutes, but most of what I have been able to find comes from 10 or 15 years ago. I hope there might be some comments from people who have had more recent experiences with his instruments. I do not have much opportunity to try out different flutes, so I have to rel...
