...They do have simple system polyester flute: ....
Might be worth a look.
I hope those polyester flutes don't have ridiculously wide lapels like those disco flutes in the late '70s had!

Re: Tune Identification please.....

I had a disagreement this summer with a fiddle player about this. I'd never heard of this "One is the tune, the other the song" trip, which makes no sense. Since the late 70s or so I've known two distinct tunes, one is An Gille Ruadh,(The Redhaired Boy),and the other is The Little Beggarman. ...

Re: WANXIAO Whistle on Amazon?

They're the most expensive whistle Walmart sells online! If that says anything.

I'd been considering ordering one just to see,but if it all over flat I guess not.

Wouldn't bother to take the paint off myself.Looked cheap? Really, anything look cheaper than a Clarke?

More vintage for sale

More vintage! I purchased this make of whistle probably in the mid 80s . Came with a book "The Whistler's Pocket Companion",and may have had a cassette tape in the package. Probably cost around $10 or so. I bought the package for the whistle. While it's the prettiest whistle I've ever had ...

Re: Want to play Name That Whistle?

Pretty sure-but not laying any money down-that the 2nd from top is not a Parks. He initially started whistle making to have whistles which wouldn't corrode in the salt air from his sea kayaking. So no metal.Possible something he was playing with but I'd be surprised if it is his it was an item for c...

Re: Onyx vs. Copeland, lower hole sizes

Regarding The Beav's remark "I believe it's a conical bore flute body with a whistle head." I thought external shapewise yes,but what about the "guts"? Thought there would be some differences, esp. as the usual reviews of those bodies w/flute and whistle heads don't get raves. I w...

Re: Becker whistles

Well,I'm an "experienced player" tho' I don't consider myself a musician of any stripe. Been playing since the mid 1970s. That said as you might imagine I own a plethora of whistles accrued over the decades excluding those I sold/gave away. Just for the heck of it I bought all of his whist...

A low D.The Onyx has a slight flare towards the end,Mr. McGee.

It also has THICK walls,if that has any significance.

Re: Tweaking a whistle with a dirty/harsh sound

Those descriptions certainly have the flavor of a Chinese to English type of wording. Bit o' experience reading such, tho' maybe I'm wrong.Tastes like it tho'. I had a Clare from the later 90s,I think.Became a car whistle. Didn't get played much except when stuck at train crossings, which wasn't infre...

Re: shearwater alto whistles

The Susato recommendation would be OK if you liked a loud whistle, but I personally think my pre used 'Eb' & 'B' are somewhat loud for playing at home. The problem with small plastic whistles is they just don't hold up if you try to beat the other family members into submission when they don't ...

Re: Monster Grips for slippery whistles

It's not like the guitar that almost everybody who plays music at least tries to learn. As popular as gitfiddles are I think that's an erroneous assumption, sir. Back to the issue at hand. Excluding having very small hands or a physical problem I just don't get people having trouble holding onto any...

Re: Quick poll: Inexpensive whistle preferences

I got a dixon trad d the other day and overall I like it. So my vote goes to that. Compared to my Generation Bb, Feadog C, and Clarke sweat tone D, I like it more. I chose it over an oak or any others because it had more consistent amazon reviews so I was hoping I'd get something thats made consist...
