I’m currently making a set of tunable ‘dog whistles’ for a customer and these are very much in the style of a Swannee whistle, closed ended with a moveable core to change the pitch. These will be in the octave 6 range and will give chromatic notes from A through to D

No no, fipple window is the same. By relatively closed I mean the slide is pushed most of the way in. This gives me a blade to bell length of circa 26.5cms. Ok, useful if inconclusive advice! Thanks. I did have one thought- I use a percentage formula to position the holes. In this case, I measured the positions from a relatively 'closed' fipple to bell end dimension. I then ended up with the loww octave tuning correct with the slide pulled out about 5mm...

I have never played one but I have heard very good reports about that French chap Reviol. I have listened to a great Aussie piper/whistler who has a full set of reviol whistles and they sound beautiful.
