Re: The most repeated question on the Chiff and Fipple
The Susator is the best choice. It's a combination tin whistle and tutor in one package.

WTB: Sweetheart Resonance Low D
I'd prefer the Blackwood model since it seems to play better in the few videos I've seen but I'm willing to negotiate for the Rosewood model as well. Seems hard to find used, I guess people like them and keep them. Looking to save a bit of money from buying one new. PM me if you have one for sale, a...

FS/FT: Shaw Low D whistle
Traded my Optima to a fellow C&Fer for it, and don't really care for it. The second octave needs way too much air, and I can only get out very breathy notes. Sounds beautiful in first octave, though. Looking to get $75 to go towards something else, and I'm open to trade. Looking for a nice quali...

Re: Rolling up
Here's a quick clip of me playing these rolls. I did them on my Clark Original C: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vudz5dogx3auupc/rolls%20example.mp3?dl=0 EDIT: my microphone sucks. MTGuru/pancelticpiper: you guys are both a great help! I'll look into what you're talking about, and see if I can make some ...

Re: Rolling up
When I get home from work, I'll try to do a recording to show you guys. Where's a good place to upload it? dropbox? soundcloud? I'll work on using G and B on my rolls, and see if I can't figure out the timing in getting the sound I want. What I'm looking to do is play more like this: https://www.you...

Rolling up
I've been trying to expand my listening in the whistle world, and I've heard quite a few players do an ornamentation that sounds to me like a roll only they go up to the next note on the scale instead of down which is the only way I've learned to do rolls. First of all, let me explain how I do rolls...

Re: Looking for a low F
I have a Kildare low G and I can't tell that the bore is tapered. If it is, it's very minimal. I am liking that whistle more and more though, especcially after working on that Susato "embouchure". I'm likely to get this low F from them. I also realized that I can get additonal whistle bodi...

FS: Kerry Optima Low D Whistle - $100
Kerry Optima Low D Whistle - $100 A well used and loved Kerry Optima for sale. I've played this one for about a year until I "upgraded" to a Kerry Chieftain. This is a wonderful whistle with a full, fairly loud tone. Since I played it fairly often, the original shine is about gone and is r...

Re: Looking for a low F
Buy the best one you can afford or spend more money in the future upgrading to the whistle you really wanted in the first place. I guess this applies to most any instrument. Perhaps you're right and I should just save for another Chieftain since I'm very happy with my low D from him. Hell, maybe I ...

Looks about the same, just minus the tuning slide. Is that true?

Looking for a low F
So I'm in the market for a new whistle, and I'd like to add a low F to my collection. I've been looking around to see who makes them, and Susato is the first thing that comes to mind. I already have a low G from the Kildare line and I think it's an OK whistle. My question here, is what is the differ...

Re: mic for whistle?
I've been using a SM57 at shows with my whistle. My main instrument is trombone, but the whistle usually comes through fine. Sometimes the sound guy needs to turn me up a bit, and then back down when I switch back. Its a very directional mic though, so you need to putthe windows right on the mic and...
