Re: Anyone tried the Carbony D flute with the chimneys and close fingering?
Well I found some plastics ring splints online and have them now. They make a huge difference. My ring finger no longer bends backward while playing, the flute is much more stable, and I can play longer! I was originally only concerned with my right hand, but the splint worked so well that I added o...

Re: Anyone tried the Carbony D flute with the chimneys and close fingering?
Thank you all for the feedback. The hyperextension ring/splints seem like a doable and affordable option that I'll be looking further into. Thanks Kkrell for the tip! I like the idea of the Siccama flute, but would probably end up going with the Boehm for ITM (like Pancelticpiper suggested) if it ca...

Anyone tried the Carbony D flute with the chimneys and close fingering?
When I did a search everything that came up was several years old, so I'm asking the question again to see if anyone has any updated information. I've been a Boehm player for many years (40+) and a keyless player for several years now. The biggest problem I have is with the finger spread on the keyl...

Re: Tweaking a Pakistan made flute?
Thank you all for your responses!
It looks like this kind of project would be a waste of time & money.
How are the wooden cases that come with these flutes?
Are they equally as useless as the flute?
It might be worth getting one of the $30 FSOs just for the flute case.
Thanks again,
Aldon

Tweaking a Pakistan made flute?
Hi flauters! Straight to the point: Has anyone here tried (or heard of someone who tried) their hand at tweaking the ubiquitous cheap Patistnan-made flutes found on the interwebs? Some background: I know that they are largely unplayable as purchased, but wonder if they can be tweaked to make them be...

I'm super late to the party, but seeing the way the guy had to contort his body to play made my Bach hurt!
I'll let myself out.
Seriously though, this impressed me to no end.

Anybody tried the Hauck polymer flute?
Just wondering if anyone has tried the Hauck polymer flute.
Please let me know how it plays.
Is the mbouchure cut well?
Loudness?
Is the E natural as loud as the surrounding notes?
Is it in tune?
Anything else you think needs mentioning?
Thank you!

Re: Is this a known configuration for flute keys?
Thanks for your thoughts folks!
I had no idea there was such a thing as both long AND short Bb together option! Cool.
Ideally, I guess, I should just get my mitts on a regular 6 key and see how I get along with it.
I appreciate your input!
Thanks again!

Is this a known configuration for flute keys?
Hey flutefolk, I want to get a keyed flute but don't like the standard 6 keyed versions. I particularly abhor the LH thumb Bb. My current thoughts for my dream keyed flute would have: - normal Eb key - C natural thumbhole - Long Bb touch key for RH 1st finger - normal G# key I'm stuck in deciding be...

Surfactant & Delrin flutes?
Hello flauters! I've recently purchased 2 Delrin flutes and noticed that they both get stuffy in the headjoint after playing for a while (moisture build-up). I never had this happen on my Boehm flutes. The moisture just drips out of the end of the flute on the Boehms. Has anyone here tried to use a ...

What is your way of half-holing?
Hi C&F folks, My question is about the different ways of half-holing notes. How do you do it? Notice that I'm not asking how to half-hole, but rather asking about your particular manner of doing so. Here is my answer, starting from the Cnat (on a D flute, playing right handed): - Cnat: rolling t...

Please tell me about the M&E 6 key polymer flute.
Hello everyone, I have a birthday coming in June and am thinking about getting a 6 key M&E polymer flute. Can anyone tell me about them? - Does the low e note speak as well as the surrounding notes do? - How large is the finger stretch in the lower hand? - Can it be played as loudly as a wooden ...
