Re: Any Beginners Out There?

Definitely a beginner here. Started 6 years ago, but technically only got my hands on a real set 5 months ago, so count me in!

Re: GHB Pitch/Sheet Music Question

Yes...the ever-present pitch creep (from too much hole dremeling) is something I'm very familiar with. Tuning my old tenor drum to band pitch was a nightmare. Thanks for the info!

GHB Pitch/Sheet Music Question

Hokay, so my understanding is that GHB's play in Bb Mixolydian, a single scale, with an addition b7 below the root as their lowest tone. HOWEVER. I'm arranging some music for an upcoming church event, and the irish instruments I'm working with, including my own, are posing me no issues. It's when I ...

Re: opinions on 3/8 David Daye set

My D chanter has a solo tenor drone...sounds fine. Yes, having a drone that's in unison with the Tonic is pretty well uncommon across the board, but the chanter an drone get along rather well, most especially from low D to G, where you are essentially playing through several inversions of Chords off...

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes

The bellows still looked okay...the vinyl bag had several holes worn into it in obvious places from nothing more than expanding and squeezing in normal use...and there was GHB bag seasoning leaking out. Eww. The windcap's blackwood had some peeling going on...looked like they had put some kind of la...

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes

Yep, that was the one. If it ever comes up for sale again, PM me first

Sounds great so close to the rest of the chanter for mic'ing in a small setting.

No sound clips yet...I'll work on that.

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes

About six years ago, I was relentlessly pursuing the somewhat insane dream of getting my hands on a set of pipes. I was a music composition and trumpet performance major at the time, and was drooling over just about any new instrument I could get my hands on. Unfortunately, my loving but naive paren...

Looking for Bouzuki/Similar Player in Southern Indiana

I'm assembling a progressive Irish Quartet/Quintet (varying based on who/what I'm able to acquire) in the Bloomington/Nashville/Columbus area of Southern Indiana. We currently have a lineup of young musicians in and around their twenties, including myself on Whistles and Uilleann Pipes, a Bodhran pl...
