Re: Statement on status of Copelands.

Where I live, The Copelands are a small group of islands off the coast from Donaghadee - in the Irish Sea. The best music you get there is from the foghorn.

What whistle is this?

My very oldest whistle no longer has a label, if it ever had one. But it is sometimes one of my favourites. It is a high D and has a cylindrical brass body that is now pretty well verdigrised with only the area over the holes looking brass-coloured. The plastic head is green and exactly the same sha...

Re: question for cyclists

Re: Clarke tweak

Thank you, Andreas the whistler; that helps me to think it wasn't all in my imagination. But I'm not clear even so what happens with the tweaks I have done and that seem to stop this occurring. By the way, I like 'labium' instead of my attempt to describe it - it resembles the labium on an orchid or...

Re: question for cyclists

I think Tor means the other way round for the foot action; when the toe points down on the downstroke lift your heel up, and on the recovery part of the cycle lower your heel and pull up with the plantar surface of your foot. This is reckoned to be more efficient, and would give the calf more exerci...

Re: Clarke tweak

Hi all I didn't expect so much interest. But thanks. I'm sure the blocking was not caused by condensation in the wind way though, as I could peer down ans see that it was clear. There was condensation on the UPPER lip of the fipple. I think I can manage without the oiling though. This is an interest...

Clarke tweak

Quite some years ago now I bought a Clarke black-painted whistle in D. At first I could play it for only a few minutes before it 'blocked up' with condensed moisture and wouldn't sound the low register. I tried tweaking by bending the airway channel and the 'fipple' bent-down bit. For a time this ma...
