Re: McGovern’s extended regs

The E is between the D and the F# on the baritone with the D key shortened a bit. It is still possible to play a D&F# chord as well as a D&G chord but the option is now there for E&G to be played as well as E&A. The D' is positioned above the C on the baritone and the C# is above the...

Re: McGovern’s extended regs

The set has an extra note on each of the regs - a D' on the tenor, an E on the baritone and a C# on the bass. It also has 5 drones, an A drone and another that can be tuned to either A or G. The set was made by the late Victor Mullally. Having seen it in person, it's a beautiful set and it has been ...

Re: Tommy Guihen : the Torn Jacket

I've had both these CDs going in the car since I got them during the week. Great music. Fergus's CD is one of the best I've heard in a long time.

Thanks for that link. The section on the Bothy band is particularly good. Paddy Keenan was adding in some lovely bits in the live performance.

Re: One more question regarding lefty/backwards playing. . .

I'm a lefty and I have played lots of both keyed and keyless RH chanters without much hassle. Even with keyed chanters it is possible to use a number of the keys. I suppose it depends on the maker of the chanter but I don't think you should have too much trouble with the blocks getting in the way.

There is a set for sale on Donedeal in Wexford, Ireland. Seth Gallagher drones and regs with a Eugene Lambe chanter.

Here's a link to my Flickr photostream with some photos of my Victor Mullally / Dan O'Dowd 3/4 set.

I got the 1/2 set from Victor in 2012 and I got the loan of the Dan O'Dowd regs a few months ago.

Re: Victor Mullally / Dan O'Dowd 3/4 set

If I just paste this link to my photostream on Flickr will that allow people to see the photos,
(I have about 20 photos of the set) or will it just allow people who have a Flickr account to see them?

That link is to the photo page, not to the photo itself. The jpg link is: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7175/13840969965_bfb29f00ea_k.jpg Surround the photo link with img tags, and preferably first resize the oversized 1536 x 2048 photo for forum display. Thanks for the advice. I'll mess around wi...
