Re: Thoughts on the Olwell small holed flute?

Thanks for the info! My heart is saying small holes, and my head is saying medium.

Thoughts on the Olwell small holed flute?

As relating to the other models, or to other small holed flutes? Volume in a session? Anything, really. There is not a lot of talk about this model that I’ve been able to find.

MK Midgie High D

Anyone curious about this one? They are taking pre orders and won't be shipping for 2 or three months, but I was a little surprised to find no chatter about it here. I wonder if there aren't a couple of prototypes in circulation... https://mkwhistles.com/products/mk-midgie-high-d?variant=40537802539...

Re: Want to Trade Dixon Alto A Traditional Brass Whistle for another alto A

It 's the dearth of C whistles that throws me off. I keep waiting for a DX005 in C. That's not asking for much.

Re: Used Dixon whistle prices

I can't help you with the price, and mine won't be going up for sale, sorry. :) It's a very good sounding whistle imo, my favorite of the traditional sounding whistles that I own. I have several Dixons, and the ease and balance of the upper octaves on all of them is a big reason that they are among ...

Re: Feedback on Chinese Knockoff of John Sindt

Can I ask you something? If Lir, Killarney, and Mcneela all get to copy John Sindt's design and be called 'the real things' then why is a whistle made by someone in China a 'knock off' and a 'dupe?'

McNeela flute case and Trad Pro bag

I’ve no financial interest, and I’m aware that you can read reviews online, but I wanted to give y’all my two pesos worth. Still, please delete with my apologies if this seems inappropriate. I’m very pleased with them both. The case is very sturdy. There was no odor with either. If you’ve ever bough...

Re: Help choosing a new whistle

I think either a Dixon DX-005 or a Killarney would be a good option. Even if you eventually decide that you want a whistle with different characteristics you will have a very good instrument in the meantime that will not impede your progress. They are two of my favorites out of about 20, and the fac...

Re: A selfish beginner flute. F or G?

I might as well add a 3rd recommendation for a Copley Delrin F. Fantastic value and a lot of fun. Mine stays out on the dresser ready for action. Personally I like the stealthy look without the rings.

Re: oiling frequency / dryness

I am impressed with how much information Blayne was able to put into a 4 minute video! Seems like anybody else would have taken 15 minutes to do it.

Re: Lehart/copper rings

That's a beauty, alright. I know it's not the main criteria when choosing a flute, but I really do like the look of his flutes.

So it's sounds like I would be ok as long as I didn't leave the flute outside for years at a time. I think even I can handle that.

Re: Lehart/copper rings

Interesting chart. I guess that’s brass out and exposed to the elements? I suppose the trick to developing and sustaining a nice dark patina might be to wipe them down now and then but not too enthusiastically.

Re: Lehart/copper rings

Thank you paddler, that is good to know. I love the look of aged copper, it's when it turns green and blue that it bothers me. It's nice to know you have held onto your Lehart flute for as long as you have, given how quickly flutes tend to cycle around here.

Re: Lehart/copper rings

Thanks for the info. I am a little hesitant to reach out to Gilles, as I'm almost certain it would lead to the placing of an order.
