Re: McCallum getting into uilleann making
Is there anyone out there that currently has a set of these pipes? I am very interested in them. I have some experience with McCallums products and am very impressed with their work, and Fred seems genuinely interested in getting a good set of pipes produced, and available to folks at a pretty good...

Re: McCallum getting into uilleann making
It has been a long time since I visited this forum and was surprised to see this thread revived. In case you forgot or weren't following from the beginning I'll give you a little history how this started and where it is today. Eight years ago I started a small workshop called Pipes and Whistles on L...

Re: Patrick Sky's "Budget" vs. David Daye Penny
I would suggest you contact McCallum Bagpipes http://www.mccallumbagpipes.com and ask about the uilleann set they are making for Fred Morrison. It was modeled after his Williams set and is available as either a practice set or 1/2 set. Full set is to be ready by summer. They were supposed to have th...

Re: Fred Morrison Uilleann Pipes
I heard he may be delivering a half set when he comes out the first week of October for Pipes & Whistles on Lake Tahoe https://www.facebook.com/PipesWhistlesOnLakeTahoe/ . One of the guys had placed an order last year and said Fred will be bringing them out. I'm looking forward to having a go on...

Re: Fred Morrison Uilleann Pipes
McCallum bagpipes are made using CNC technology. I was told the UP will be the same except the chanter which is not CNC. As far as I know they will come ABW like the practice set. I own one of the prototype practice sets. My instructor has played my set and was really impressed. The reed for that ch...

Re: Michael Hubbert 1/2 set
The story that was relayed to me was Paddy received a Rowsome set years ago that needed some work. He sent it out to be restored and it was supposedly poorly done. The chanter Hubbert used wasn't touched.

Re: Michael Hubbert 1/2 set
The original Rowsome chanter he used was borrowed from Paddy Keenan. Another thing that I found interesting was it was the first time he made a chanter with scalloped holes. I don't want to post any sound files of my playing since I'm still very much a beginner and will not represent them properly. ...
