Re: "Cheap" Whistle Materials
I don't have proof, but I'm fairly certain Generation whistleheads are ABS, not polystyrene. Bear in mind, ABS plastic is a mixture of acrylonitril, butadiene and styrene monomers, and the proportions vary according to the properties desired in the finished product. I wouldn't be surprised if the pl...

Re: Calling all UK-based amateur whistle tweakers!
Get some aluminum foil tape. This is a kind of duct tape that is nothing but heavy aluminum foil with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. In the US this tape is .005 inches thick (.125 mm). When I first began using it I was concerned it might come loose from exposure to moisture. I contacted a ma...

It should work. Please give it another try.Kade1301 wrote:I tried to hear the sound clip and got: "You don't have permission to access /join/index.bml on this server."

I'll keep that in mind and do some experiments.

How to tweak a Clarke ...
Clarke Originals can turn out wonderful with tweaking. There's some variation from one whistle to the next, but when you get a really good one, it's REALLY good. Here's what to do: 1. Depress the windway roof to make it less arched, with the bottom (downstream) end of the windway roof flat across an...

Re: Thoughts on A Whistles...
5/8 inch inside diameter is about right for a standard bore A whistle. I use 21/32 outside diameter brass tubing with a .014 wall thickness. That makes the inside diameter 5/8 inch plus about three thousandths.

Re: Thoughts on A Whistles...
Several months ago I changed the bore of the tweaked A Generations. They are now a standard bore, which should improve the volume. The earlier version had a larger bore tube than the Bb, so the one you converted from a Bb would have been even narrower bore than my old, narrow-bore A's. Richard, I'll...

Re: Freeman whistles: where to buy from Europe (Italy)?
I've done business with Phil Brown at bigwhistle.co.uk for many years. Several times, he's been on the verge of closing the site because it wasn't making money, but he loves whistles and wants to help keep them available. His retail prices include Value Added Tax, which the postal service/customs wi...

Re: Freeman whistles: where to buy from Europe (Italy)?
I've gone through all the listings and fixed the ones that excluded Italy. Thanks, Cheip, for bringing that to my attention.
Best wishes,
Jerry

"... almost half your eBay items, excludes Italy from shipping."
I'll go back through and correct them. I thought I had done all of them before.

Peter, over the years, you have been extremely hostile to me on this forum. You are the single reason I almost never post here.

Re: Freeman whistles: where to buy from Europe (Italy)?
For a time, I excluded Italy from eBay orders because I had two in a row get lost by the Italian postal service. When that happens, I have to replace the whistle or refund the money, which consumes a lot of time for a net loss. I barely survive on what I make from this business. (Thanks to you who c...
