Re: Want to play Name That Whistle?

Hello again. Indeed it has been a long time. When I saw your name I was pleasantly surprised. The top whistle may be have been made by Ralph Sweet but I'm not sure. The tonebody on the third whistle from the top is from an old Feadog. It will be exactly the same as current Feadog tonebodies but the ...

Re: CP ANNOUNCING: The Enat (E major) tweaked Generation

Hi, Casey.

Yes, I did find your order and in fact, I completed your whistle this evening. It's a very nice whistle and I think you'll be happy with it. It will go out Monday by Priority Mail.

I appreciate your patience.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Re: CP: ANNOUNCING Three new Freeman tweaked whistles ...

You're welcome, Tommy. This is the largest tubing that can be used with a tweaked Generation Bb whistlehead. For low F and tenor G it makes a standard bore whistle, but for low D it makes a very narrow bore whistle. I would have liked to have been able to make a louder low D tweaked Generation but w...

Re: Jerry Freeman Low G

Because it's a Generation headjoint (that has been tweaked, which in this case includes a new tonebody, so I don't call it a "Generation," I call it a TWEAKED Generation). Which is also why it sounds like a Generation. It IS a Generation headjoint (that has been tweaked, etc. etc., careful...

Re: Clarke original dimple

Because I don't have the time. Thanks for the information. Why don't you just post the account and let me get my work done? (Mortgage due today and I'm $140 short.)

Re: Clarke original dimple

I don't doubt your word about what's in Dannatt's account. Family legends tend to be pliable over time depending on memory and on what the teller is trying to convey. I know this first hand from my experiences researching my own family history. As I said, we'll never know for certain. It may be exac...

Re: Clarke original dimple

We will never know for certain. Why would someone in the Clarke family change the spelling of their name if they were really Clarkes? Was there a family dispute? It's all very mysterious (and very interesting). The brass Clarke I encountered was definitely from a different source than the Clarkes I ...

Re: Clarke original dimple

Oh, interesting. Looking more closely at the catalog page, I see "Clark Flageolets" (not Clarke) available in "English style" (presumably tinplate), brass and nickel. I thought, "Oh, I would love to have a brass Clarke. Then I remembered Peter Maguire's brass Eb CLARK (not C...

Re: Clarke original dimple

My sense is, the dimple in the soundblade is a more recent development of the design, probably to make the geometry consistent throughout mass production. Even in the factory, there was a lot of handwork involved in making Clarke Original whistles until the last ten years or so. I daresay there are ...

Re: Jerry Freeman Low G

Also, for the record: My Bnat tweaked Generation uses the available tubing closest to the factory run Bb whistles. It's ever so slightly larger diameter but not a full telescoping size bigger. Enat tweaked Generations use a tweaked key of F Generation mouthpiece on the same diameter tubing as the F ...

Re: Jerry Freeman Low G

So far the only tenor G tweaked Generation in circulation is the one Kevin Crawford is playing in the youtube video. He really liked that whistle and took it for his own use (he also took the Enat whistle and posted on Facebook about how much he needed a good high Enat whistle and how happy he is wi...

Re: CP: ANNOUNCING Three new Freeman tweaked whistles ...

Hi, Tommy.

The inside diameter of the tweaked low D Generation is .71 inches. That makes it a very narrow bore low D, which is the reason it's quiet in volume, sweet and easy to play in the upper register.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Re: CP ANNOUNCING: The Enat (E major) tweaked Generation

Something's gone amiss, Casey. I'm behind with some orders that were done through PayPal but not all the way back to December. Let me look into this and see if I can figure out what's happened. Orders placed on eBay are filled within three or four business days. Orders I've received through PayPal h...

CP ANNOUNCING: The Enat (E major) tweaked Generation

ANNOUNCING: The Enat (E major) tweaked Generation. I designed this key of Enat (E major) Freeman tweaked whistle using a tweaked Generation F whistlehead and a tonebody I make in my workshop to create a very sweet voiced, easy to play Enat whistle. This completes a project I've worked on over severa...
