Re: strange Ebay MK whistle listing
What struck me as odd, if it's an MK whistle, why doesn't he say it's an MK whistle? If you were buying a camera, you'd expect the seller to say it's a Canon or whatever. Or did I miss that in the description?

Re: Game changer in low D whistles - new video
Very clever. The only issue I would envisage is cleaning the bore. The acute angle between the "chimneys" and the tube wall could build up some nasty gunge over time and be hard to remove.

I don't think it's the whistle identification that's the problem, I think you've eaten the wrong mushrooms.

Re: Tuning Dixon Alto A DX007A
I may be unlucky but out of the eleven "tuneable" whistles I have in various keys, eight need the head pushed all the way in to be in tune so there's no margin to sharpen them. Two that can be sharpened are only pulled out 1mm to be in tune. The only satisfactorily "tuneable" one...

Think I'd contact Phil Hardy at Kerry Whistles and see what he thinks, he may suggest sending it back to him for adjustment.

Re: Key of F
I have a Chieftain F, which I love the tone of, though it is an aluminium body. With hindsight I would have bought the tuneable version as mine is slightly flat.

Re: Jambalaya
I was recently reminded of Jambalay by The Carpenters . The flute produces a lovely lively solo (about 1:10) - has anyone here managed that on a whistle? Is it even possible? The flutist is Bob Messenger...great bassist (!) and tenor player too! Not to mention all round good-guy. Piper J...

Re: Oz waiting times
Thanks Brett. I've been waiting considerably longer than that but I know Mitch hasn't been well and he's said he's had to slow down a bit. He's been very good at answering e mails. Don't want to hassle him too much, he's a nice guy but I was just getting a bit concerned.

Oz waiting times
Hello all. Just wondering if anyone here has ordered an Oz whistle from Mitch this year and how long they had to wait for it.

Round these parts, a buxom lady keeps hers warm in her cleavage. A high D admittedly but I think a low D would fit too.MichaelLoos wrote:brewerpaul wrote: I heard of a whistle player in a local band who had several Overtons. He kept the heads submerged in a bucket of hot water during gigs!

Re: MK low D question
Hi jadphoto, Another quality I think that I've noticed is the slightly out-of-tune B-note on the MK low D, but a very in-tune crossfingered C-natural. Does anyone have similar observations? I suppose that to make one note in-tune you have to do it on the expense of the tune of another note, or some...

Re: Fans of Dixon Polymer whistles out there ?
I have a tuneable Low D which I thought I'd get rid of when I bought an MK but I'm glad I hung onto it. Bit weak on the bell note but it's beautifully mellow and so easy in the top register. A little quiet for sessions but great for practicing on. Would recommend for a first Low D.
