Re: Water Weasel confirmation

I recognize the material, this is most probably a Water Weasel. I studied under Glenn and he gave me some of it. It's a modeling polymer used by GM to make prototypes, he used to grab it when they cut up prototypes for disposal. I've made some of my copper whistles using this. It colors nicely with ...

I have a Somers, it's a decent flute, bulletproof construction and good tone.

Re: Copper as a whistle making material

It works well, trust me. I made and sold many copper whistles in keys from C to G. You can deform the top end of the body by placing a metal dowel inside and pounding on it to expand it, then use a female-female copper joiner to create a tuning slide to join to the head. Helps to have a lathe, altho...

(SOLD) Thin Weasel "Lipstick" Bb FS

For Sale: The one and only "Lipstick" Bb Thin Weasel. Glenn offered to let me purchase it when I was studying under him. It's made of the same red plastic that he used in his fipple plugs when making Water Weasels. This was a special order from someone who apparently never picked it up. St...

MK Pro Low D for sale

Up for grabs is a MK low D Pro in black, I believe I'm the second owner. It's in good order, with only a couple of tiny worn spots in the powdercoating, at the windway where it enters the window (see photo) and a tiny chip at the foot of the barrel. The tone is what I've been told is typical for MK,...

Re: ideas for self-percussion with whistle?

I'm a bit ignorant in this area, but doesn't someone make a small sturdy wooden box that you can tap with your feet while playing?

Re: Practice chanter

You should start with a practice chanter regardless of whether you can afford pipes or not. The GHBs require too much effort and skill to be a learning instrument. Gibson makes a fine polypenco full-length practice chanter... good tuning and easy to play, fairly inexpensive for what you get. If you ...
