Re: Low Impact Low D

Yeah, I guess the Reviol could be considered a small-bore. I owned a Reviol Low D for a while but just couldn't take to it. According to Colin, he's had great feedback for his Low E small bore. He'll be picking out a medium or soft/medium head to see which works best to get the right balance—solid f...

Re: Low Impact Low D

Thanks for your ideas. I may well try a Goldfinch some time and I'm curious about the Dante. But I've moved on since I wrote the thread after a recent long conversation with Colin Goldie. I can manage the first octave of my medium Goldie Low D though getting used to piper's grip and the largish hole...

Re: (SOLD) FS: Low D Whistle (pics and sound file) - $100

While this is still posted, can anyone identify the whistle? Is it a Lochlan?

Is it possibly a Lochlan? What would you charge to send it to the UK?

DONE: Mack Hoover CPVC Quiet High D FREE

New Mack Hoover CPVC High D FREE to anyone in the UK who would appreciate such a hand-made quiet whistle but is unable to afford it. Mack made this for me but asked me to pass it on when I found it wasn't quite what I wanted . . . so the generosity is his!! A really good man.

Re: Transcribing a Slow Air

Thanks very much for the help, Richard. Where does Chris begin this and Is there a name for the ornament since you appear to be familiar with what he's playing? Is it a cran or a type of cran? Narzog, thanks for your comment. Generally, I tend not to look at videos but listen to the slowed-down tune...

Re: Transcribing a Slow Air

Thanks for your confidence in me!! Chris's ornamentation far more complex than anything else I've transcribed. Yes, I'm slowing down both video and audio versions of the piece. I'll get there but it will take some time.

Re: Transcribing a Slow Air

That's the problem. Taking it beyond the basic tune. Figuring out what Chris is playing.

Transcribing a Slow Air

Trying to get back into playing low whistle after a break of several years and drawn more to slow tunes rather the normal fare, I came across this beautiful air played by Chris McMullan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rD6WyHiJrk )really my kind of thing) and sat down to try and transcribe it as som...

WTB: Lofgren Whistles

I would be interested in buying Lofgren aluminium whistles, especially high and Low Ds. I live in the UK.
