Re: Willie Clancy Week pictures 2014
Thanks for sharing those! A lot of great shots, and I'll have to take more time when checking them out again later. I especially like the black and white photos and the "action shots" that capture the musicians getting lost in the music.

Re: Remembering Micho
That's the one that got me hooked on his playing. Ireland's Whistling Ambassador is another must have album.Poohze wrote:Received a copy of "Traditional Music of County Clare" yesterday, and I've been enjoying it hugely.

Re: It's been a while since I shared some tunes...
Mr. Ed, I went back and looked at the comment by Mr.Gumby in May. The problem is not so much the tonguing as the flow. Use pickup notes and hold notes for the full length. Just some mumbles from the peanut gallery. Bob I'm sure that needs work too, but the tonguing is the most noticeable to me righ...

Re: It's been a while since I shared some tunes...
Gave the Kitty's Gone a Milking track I posted in May (http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12791136) another listen today. The tonguing sounds too aggressive (?) to me and the tune doesn't flow well because of it. Listening to other players use tonguing sounds good to me, but hearing my own playing w...

Re: It's been a while since I shared some tunes...
There were more than a few times I wanted to throw all of the whistles out the window. But, there's something about music, it seems like it has to bring you to the brink of insanity some times before progress is made. I've got a LOT more to learn, so hopefully I don't go over the edge. :boggle: Pick...

If I can get someone to stay with Mom and give her meds....
I'm not going to get my hopes up much that it will happen. Not completely ruling it out though.

Thanks a lot, German Whistler! There's definitely been a lot of time and effort put into it.

Lovely young lady, and a very good concertina player. She recently posted on Facebook that she'll be at the Catskills Irish Arts Week next month. That's an hour or two from my house. It'd be nice to make it there and hear her play in person.

Re: Sweaty Fingers and Slippery Nickel? A Simple Solution
Thanks for the beeswax tip, Squidgirl. This thread is going to make for an interesting list of supplies for the tin whistle toolkit: electrical tape, Gorilla Snot, and beeswax. The tape got a better test run today. It's in the 80s and usually that means the Bb can only be played for a few minu...

Re: Sweaty Fingers and Slippery Nickel? A Simple Solution
Thanks for the link to the site, Feadoggie. It's been bookmarked just in case it's ever needed. Being the person in charge of cleaning someone's nebulizer though, it'll probably not be used. Don't like to have anything on the fingers when handling that. And it's a common thing to grab a whistle and ...

Sweaty Fingers and Slippery Nickel? A Simple Solution
I've been having a hard time lightening up the fingers/grip when playing the tin whistle. It's been very noticeable since the ganglion cysts have been acting up and the temperature is rising. My favorite whistles are nickel plated Generations, and with a very crooked pinky, as soon as there's perspi...
