Is this an end blown instrument, where you blow across an edge instead of through a fipple? If so, then you may find some tips if you search for information about playing quena.

My Woodwind Acquisition Syndrome goes into remission sometimes, but never fully heals ;) I am starting to crave getting a NAF. Quenas have thumbholes ... how much more traditional can you get?

Not only for c-nat, but crack the thumbhole open a bit and you're in second octave, without even really overblowing (at least not enough to notice) ... works that way on the quena, anyway.

I have some medical paper tape on hand, so I covered the contact portion of a PVC quena with a couple of layers. Been playing it for several days now, with no skin problems

'course, I don't want to mar the wooden one with that. But I'm better off than I was before

I found the Bill Ochs book "The Clarke Tin Whistle handbook" the most helpful, when I was completely new. Since you are not completely new, it may or may not be as helpful to you.

If nothing else, it had a nice selection of tunes.
