Re: The must know/standard/popular irish whistle tunes?

Brian Prior compiled 3 volumes of tune sets for Comhaltas. The books are known as Foinn Seisiún v. 1-3 . Here are the contents & audio files for #3; http://comhaltas.ie/shop/detail/foinn_seisiun_3/ It has other players too; not just whistle. For sheet music there are any number of sources, such ...

Re: ABC transcription help

As Mr. Gumby pointed out the earlier Abc examples I posted were not written for the purpose of transcribing whistle ornamentation. Cheers, Peter! Those examples are better suited to fiddle. Sorry for any confusion. I'll try again. Here's a brief bit of abc I prepared to illustrate a cut, tap, short ...

Re: ABC transcription help

Hello, squidgirl, I see Chuck has provided you with an excellent reference sheet. Here's another one I've seen on a discussion about ABC Rolls; initial cut: {c}B separating cut: AB{d}BA evenly timed triplet (3Bcd 2-16ths-&-an-eighth triplet: B/c/d short roll: ~B2 evenly timed short roll: {d}B{A}...

Re: Someone asked how I create a tweaked Generation whistle ...

"What amazes me is how Jerry can get the entire scale of these Generations exactly in tune." ~ Posted by Richard Cook on 23 Apr 2014 Yes, Richard, it's brilliant! & unless one has actually played a whistle which has been tweaked by Jerry Freeman in exactly this way they have no right t...

Re: ABC transcription help

Could you describe which ornamentation you want to transcribe? There's been alot going on with abc standards recently, but it really come down to what you need to put/to see on the page.

Re: Pay up front or pay on receipt, is there the right way?

Holy moley, Tommy! Just like that you compliment the man on his website & soundclips; then with a simple hyper-link you direct his attention to, how'd you put it (?) ~ "There is a discussion about your whistles on the Chiff And Fipple". That's a sack of potatoes. Aside from that intere...

Re: Pay up front or pay on receipt, is there the right way?

"So new year comes and goes and no whistle. I will add here I paid with Paypal but only have a 45 day clause where if you don't receive the goods you can claim your money back. By the end of February, 9 weeks in, I looked into getting my money back which is when I found out about the 45 day bit...

Re: Pay up front or pay on receipt, is there the right way?

Of course you're right, nanohedron, but there are those rare few for which the question is about payment practices http://www.chiffandfipple.com/whoa.html Not to mention what to do after the money is spent*. * "I also sent a fictitious email to see if he was still taking orders, and yes surpris...

Re: Pay up front or pay on receipt, is there the right way?

Tommy, that's a good guide so long as you keep in mind it's dated. There have been updates though it's not intended to be current. "Since these pages were originally put together in 1996 or so, Chiff & Fipple's message board community has gotten huge. That forum includes over thousands and ...

Re: Pay up front or pay on receipt, is there the right way?

The topic I'm referring to is in regard to the trusted sellers list which has been the topic in many of the most recent posts. Tommy, as far as the type of questions I posted being open ended & (by definition) without finite answers I wouldn't disagree. But if this constitutes trolling are you s...

Re: Pay up front or pay on receipt, is there the right way?

Speaking of mobile phones mine works (I can make phone calls), it was inexpensive & it's as indestructible as most others (assuming you're not going SCUBA diving w/it). But, back on topic . . . unless you're wanting to explore the full realm of possibilities across a virtual reality; how difficu...

Re: Copeland Nickel-silver D whistle for sale

Pardon the interruption, but I have to ask what this is about? I understand Copeland has earned a great deal of respect on C & F. What I don't yet comprehend is why this particular discussion, if it is a discussion, is quite so important for whistle players (as it so obviously is from the reacti...

Re: Is there the right way?

I'm wondering if this line of discussion is beginning to fulfill it's own dormant intent ~ giving a voice to frustration. The trusted sellers list isn't a bad concept; there's rarely a lack of good ideas. But why shouldn't this good idea also be comprehensive? If the intent is to truly evaluate whis...
