Another thing you can do is tune Ionian. You don't need to change string gagues...Tune bass to G3 with middle and melody strings tuned D4. The G scale begins at third fret... Bob

Re: Apalachin Dulcimer Tuning ..
What you need is a baritone dulcimer. We normally tune them AEA, but play nicely in gdg. I build them with 28 and 30" scales. Three strings . I'm still experimenting with gauge's but .014 plain .018 to .020 wound and .030 wound bass work's for me in mixolydian. There are many tunings and modes ...

I started and ended with my Dixon low D. It fulfills my needs. 99.9% of my playing remains in high D.. If you got a low D itch to scratch the Dixon will do... Bob.

Re: Two Bow Method for Psaltery
At last count I've got six BP's sitting around the house. I prefer playing with a single bow but when I play double the use my left hand bow for playing drones. Its easy to tune the left side just for drone notes... Bob.

Re: Mixolydian dulcimer ?
Tuning a dulcimer DAD, it what we call mixolydian tuning. Bagpipe tuning is generally a low D, and two d's one octave higher. I tried your AAG, and its a minor tuning. A good Wayfaring Stranger key... Bob

Re: New carbon fiber whistles and keys are now available
New materials should always have a chance. Does anyone remember Ovation Guitars. My only experience with CF is building fly fishing rods. The tubes are tough, light and perform better than other materials but the weird thing is if you drop them in just the right way they shatter... Bob

Re: Any 5-stringers out there?
Hey, Fool. You should not have a problem fingering around a RR spike. I only install them at the seventh fret for the A note. It's uncommon to use in other positions. Players who need more go with a fifth string sliding capo. RR spike on steel strings is barely a millimeter high. You can install the...
