Re: Potentially broken scaphoid bone

Thanks for the info, Loren. As it turns out I had an MRI almost 3 weeks after the accident and it isn't the sacphoid, but there is a slight crack in the trapezium. The doctor said this is much better news and my hand is much better. Thanks all, I just wanted to brace myself if I wasn't going to ever...

Potentially broken scaphoid bone

Has this happened to anyone and how did it affect your flute playing during recovery and long term? I took a spill on my bike some weeks back and doctors are still trying to decide if I have broken this on my left hand.

Re: Jon Cornia - Master craftsman

Glad to see you are still fixing up those antique flutes, Jon. And there is no shame in fixing up the occasional concertina as long is it isn't an accordion...then its time to get worried.

Hope all is well in LA.

If your new Blackman plays anything like the first then it must be a real gem. I just about walked off with it under my jacket til Jon caught me :)

i dont think you should put any numbers on anyone's flutes, jon. i think you should wait til i finally shell out the money, and then make my flute number 0001. Sorry, I beat you to it with the Cochran 001 inscription. It didn't have it on originally, but I had the forethought to know it would be go...

Yes, I agree with Graeme on this question. If you like it so much, why sell it for the Hammy? Although, I am a bit biased on this one. No one could take my Cochran away from me...unless, of course, it was Jon and he was putting keys on it :) I assume you've played the Hammy extensively as well.

I gave a very large log to Jon C. We let it dry for a year in Southern California, but it split too much to make anything of it. Ask him though as I don't know all the details. He would be good to ask anyway since he makes these things anyway.

Any word on Tom's cd? I've learned quite a few of his tunes in the last 2 years and it would be nice to hear him with some accompaniment. I've squeezed every last drop out of those mp3's on his website.

wanted: tunable Chieftains (G,F, Low D)

As the subject asserts, I'm looking for people who have used Chieftain whistles for sell. I have a non-tunable low F I adore and have been playing it with a group lately--which would be easier if it was tunable. Go ahead and pm me or email me. Thanks.

Well that is a stout fellow I must say. I figured you had a pic. :) Hmmm... pins and flat pad cups. Is that a plate on the short F or is that just dirt? The poor thing was a mess when I got it, had to rebuild the foot socket and reattach the pins there. There was also a huge gouge in the upper sect...

yep just played it with Sean (buskerSean) today and it sure did play well. I brought out the Baur as well and it played like a gem with Sean's Howard pipes. Jon's medium sized R&R held its own with a set of pipes...that should be saying something. For some reason the Baur plays better over here....

I recently moved to Oxford, UK so if there are any nearby who want to try a flute by Jon C. let me know since I brought mine with me and will be playing a bit over here.
