Re: conical solutions for upper register

Thanks Stanton. I wouldn't list this as expertise. :) I wouldn't know much if it weren't from reading the few books out there and what others have posted here and on other forums. I've gained much from what you and others have posted on their efforts too. "We're all in this together." as ...

Re: Keeping Your Whistles Tidy?

Well, there's loads of places, possibly, for those who don't keep their whistle clean: http://www.seeing-stars.com/Images/Slides/PigNwhistle.JPG http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/files/images/pattayai27.jpg http://blogs.houstonzoo.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/psc_41_sign.jpg Now I have been here. ...

conical solutions for upper register

Well, aimed at feadoggie. Or, anyone who has tried segments in the flute as described on a shak site. For pvc flutes that are 3/4 inch bore and the segment is 1/2 diameter and about 36 mm long with 3/16 slit. I have done it and it seems to work fairly well. I wonder where to place the segment. I did...

Re: Geoffrey Ellis Pratten Style Flute - Tour Anyone?

Geoff, Great news to hear about the epoxy and the changes to the maple flute. As a side note, have you considered making a rudall style flute? I for one would like to see that somewhere down the road. Thanks again for puttting your flutes on the tour. I wish you the best in your journey with Irish f...

Re: Geoffrey Ellis Pratten Style Flute - Tour Anyone?

Much has been said about Geoff's flutes. What follows is what my teacher and I thought of them. We want to thank Geoff for putting his flutes on the tour. We also want to thank feadoggie as well for managing the tour. Sorry for the delay in posting. In regards to the epoxy, we thought that it hamper...

Re: Geoffrey Ellis Pratten Style Flute - Tour Anyone?

A quick note. I have had the tour flutes for about a week now. Actually, between myself and my teacher. So, they will soon be going to the next person on the list. I will soon then give mine and my teacher's thoughts. I reviewed the previous comments in preparation for my commments to try to avoid d...

I personally found the Copley to be an easy player.

Re: Opnions on best Sounding Delrin flutes

Are we giving opinions on the best sounding Delrins, or on which flute is preferred for its body-type, regardless of Delrin? Gordon has a very good point there. The Forbes flute is a fine flute. Go for it if you like it. It's not a bad suggestion to actually play the flutes to see how you sound on ...

Re: Opnions on best Sounding Delrin flutes

Copley without a doubt. Wish I still had mine! I have a Garry Sommers Pratten and it's great, but I think the Copley suited me better. Oh well, seller's remorse (X 2)! Pat I also vote for a Copley. I also agree with Pat. I have a pratten as well. Great flute, but a Copley suited me better. Like Pat...

Re: FS: Somers Pratten flute

Bump. I am reducing to $265 plus shipping. I need to ship in USA. Sorry, just too much to ship outside USA. This is the lowest I can go. New these are $315. Mine has rings also. $260 ish is for no rings. I will also consider trades for a delrin Copley. I would like an eliptical emb as well as ergono...
