Re: New to Irish Flute
Well, after a year of noodling around with the tin whistle I have decided to dip a toe into the waters of the Irish flute. I wanted to play something with a lower tone, and I'll still be in safe waters in the key of D....
I guess I'll be a nOOB squared now
Any advice would be welcomed.

Re: Tune of the fortnight 15/03/2012 - Scatter the mud
The tune should be easy to find on the internet in performance and score/ABC. Anything goes. Sing it in the shower, play it lugubriously on Souzaphone or merrily on the high G whistle. Play it approved ITM style or like Karajan conducting Mahler. Enjoy yourselves! I think it's a great idea

Oh. I'm enjoying the journey!
I figure I'll ascend to neeb-hood* when I can master the Mist Covered Mountains
* I'm thinking now of the knights who say "ni"

Re: Favortite whistles under $10
My green Clarke "Woodstock" I found in a toy store for $4.95. And I found a plastic Dixie whistle at a garage sale for $.50!
Both sound better than I imagined they would!

I don't know...this is pretty technically inclined bunch here.
(Have you seen the threads about tweaking and whistle quality?)
I think there should be a more precise definition!

I thought it would involve mastery of a tune that was old and Celtic.

Re: Confessions of a noob
After much thinking, I came to the conclusion I was *afraid* to play. I was afraid of learning improperly..... I wanted to learn the whistle for myself. I have no intentions of posting on youtube ( eeek, terrifying) or playing in sessions...... So why am I so worried that I will learn to play poorl...
